Faith and truth in Unamuno

The topic of this bachelor's thesis is the analysis of the visa that the Spanish writer and philosopher of the twenties century Miguel de Unamuno (1864-1936) had about the questions of the existence of truth and of the need of people in faith. He is a very important member of the Generation of '98, who provides his literary works with various genres trying to resolve philosophical problems of his time, especially the problem of the existence of truth. Analyzing articles of various literary critics and through an analysis of the philosophical ideas that are manifested in his works, we will try to understand Unamuno's ideas of truth and faith. As the theme of truth is the most important caracteristic thar unites all the writers of the Generation of '98, of course there are also references to the works of other writers of this group - Pío Baroja, Azorína, etc. In case of Unamuno's works, in this thesis we will focus mainly on San Manuel Bueno, mártir and Del sentimiento trágico de la vida, because those are the works most affected by ideas connected with the topic of this thesis .Besides trying to diminish and understand Unamuno's ideas about faith and truth, we will also see which is the origin of those ideas, respectively, by which philosophers Unamuno was influed the most.
