Truth and knowledge according to Henri Bergson
Weberová, Anna ; Čapek, Jakub (advisor) ; Tretera, Ivo (referee)
This work aims at the theory of knowledge and truth according to Henri Bergson. We could say that Bergson distinguishes two kinds of knowledge, hence of truth: intellectual and intuitive. Nevertheless, it is not only the region of knowledge which is divided into two parts, the whole metaphysical reality does so (matter - spirit, perception - memory). This dichotomy manifests itself also in the distinction science - metaphysics. Next, we notice that there is no insuperable boundary between the extremes of each dichotomy. Concerning the intuition, we think of the fact that Bergson regards it unlike the intellect as disinterested. This characteristic projects itself into two types of truth. The intellectual one serves for the survival, the intuitive one is supposed to have nothing to do with practical tasks.

Weberová, Anna
Topic of children’s home gardens is still little explored. To a question, if it is even necessary to deal with this phenomenon, there is an answer, that in the Czech Republic there is roughly 5000 children growing up in children’s homes, who deserve dignified and stimulating environment. In the beginning this thesis discusses current state of children’s homes and their gardens in a theoretical point of view. It explores a legislative basis of the children’s homes concept and through references in the Czech Republic and abroad it sums up problems of children’s homes gardens and searches for possible approaches to designing them. In the practical part this thesis deals with Hückel villas in Nový Jičín, one of which is a building of children’s home. Based on relevant analysis merits and problems were evaluated and they were a starting point to an ideological study of Hückel villas and the children’s home garden. The garden was designed in 3 variations which were converted to a final design. All was consulted so that it is possible to implement the design. In conclusion there are some general recommendations for designing a children’s home garden.
