The Radiation load of the Nuclear Medicine staff before and after the PET/CT installation in České Budějovice
TURKOVÁ, Aneta
The thesis deals with the radiation load on the staff at the Department of Nuclear Medicine in České Budějovice Hospital Plc. Its aim is to compare the radiation load on the staff of the Department of Nuclear Medicine of České Budějovice Hospital Plc before and after the installation of PET/CT gadget. My thesis includes a hypothesis in which I suppose that the radiation load of radiation has risen after the installation of the new gadget. To meet the target and verify the hypothesis I used the data which have been provided by the Department of Nuclear Medicine of České Budějovice Hospital Plc. I put the data into charts and made their graphic design. The data show that the overall radiation load on the staff has decreased thanks to the increased protection against radiation. New protection aids and gadgets have been bought to make the application of radiopharmaceuticals easier. The result of my thesis disproves the hypothesis set before the beginning of my thesis. My thesis has provided the staff of the Department of Nuclear Medicine of České Budějovice Hospital Plc with an overview of collective dosage within six years, which I recorded. By the disproof of my original hypothesis it has been acknowledged that the Hospital and the Department of Nuclear Medicine secured its staff and started to pay more attention to the protection against radiation.
The comparation of embryotoxical effect of insulin and glucose by the method CHEST.
Turková, Aneta ; Peterka, Miroslav (advisor) ; Likovský, Zbyněk (referee)
If gravid women suffer from diabetes, their unborn children have 10x higher risk of development of malformation, prenatal and postnatal death and post partum complications than children of women belonging to healthy population. The main and very controversial potential teratogenic factors are glucose and insulin. However, there are very ambivalent opinions on which one of these two substances causes damage to embryo. Therefore, the aim of this diploma thesis was to contribute to solving of this problem and test direct embryotoxicity of insulin and glucose. For solving of this issue, the so-called CHEST.The principle of this method is creation of a window in eggshell and consequent subgerminal or intraamnial application of the substance being tested.Embryos were tested from the second until the sixth incubation day.Firstly, two types of insulin were injected.Injected doses varied between 3µg/3µl to 0,003µg/3µl. Then glucose was tested, with dosage of 300µg/3µl and 30µg/3µl. Embryotoxic effect was detected for both types of insulin. The beginning of embryotoxicity line of insulin's lies between the dosage of 0,03µg/3µl and 0,003µg/3µl. From embryotoxic effect, death of embryos predominated over development of congenital malformations. Only after application on the second incubation day, there was increased...

Diagnosis of diabetes mellitus in children and young adults
TURKOVÁ, Aneta
Diabetes mellitus is a disease resulting in disordered metabolism of carbohydrates. They include very serious metabolic diseases but still one third of patients remain undiagnosed. Diabetes is one of the most common chronic diseases in children. It can affect children of any age. Diabetes mellitus type 1 occurs more often in children. Diabetes mellitus type 2 was once considered to be only a disease of adults, but today there is an alarming increase of incidence in children and young adults as a result of improper lifestyle and severe obesity. In the theoretical part of my thesis I deal with the issue of hyperglycaemia and I present laboratory methods used to diagnose diabetes mellitus and long-term or short-term compensation of this disease. In detail I focus on the importance of using own glucose meter for self-monitoring. Objective of the thesis and its implementation are set in the practical part. The objective of my thesis was to verify the quality of blood glucose meter Optium Omega manufactured by Abbot using routine method of Clinical Chemistry Laboratory in strict accordance with its intended use within POCT. To verify functionality of blood glucose meter Optium Omega I used recommended statistical procedures.
