Mahút, Michal ; Benešl, Lukáš ; Rusz, Martin ; Musil, Petr ; Mlýnek, Petr
This article introduces design of affordable BPL modem for measuring noise levels on power lines and ensuring reliable communication. Utilizing the MOD957 module from Xingtera, the modem exhibits resilience to high noise levels, crucial for maintaining communication integrity. Throughput tests demonstrate improved performance even under noisy conditions. The article underscores the importance of noise measurement, especially in ensuring dependable communication and controlling the balance of the power grid, as well as detecting potential faults in the power grid.

Evaluating BPL Communication: A Simulation Approach
Baranyk, Matěj ; Benešl, Lukáš ; Rusz, Martin
In recent years BPL (Broadband over Power-line) technology is becoming more used. Despite the technology not needing any additional cable installation it is important to make sure that using the technology itself makes sense or what the needed requirements will be. Due to this reason, we opt to simulate almost real scenarios and compare them with outputs from network simulator ns-3. This way we can recognize the usefulness of our efforts even before we make any plans to install anything, which saves time and money. Furthermore, we can use the same simulator for diagnostics of already installed BPL routes.

PLC for Smart Metering
Houser, Milan ; Rusz, Martin (referee) ; Mlýnek, Petr (advisor)
This bachelor’s thesis deals with the technology communicating over the electrical power grid, PowerLine Communication (PLC). It solves the principles, possibilities of use, ad-vantages and disadvantages of this technology. The basic issues of communication of PLC networks, Smart Grid and Smart Metering on narrowband PLCs with multiple carriers on the PRIME and G3 standard are discussed. At the end of the work there are measurements on Atmel and Devolo devices. A laboratory task was also created here, which deals with the measurement of narrowband transmission.

Methodology for PLC evaluation in Smart Metering
Rusz, Martin ; Sláčik, Ján (referee) ; Mlýnek, Petr (advisor)
The aim of this work is to acquire basic knowledge about PLC technology and to make a set of measurements focusing on the main parameters of this technology as well as to perform a set of short-term measurements of PLC communication in Smart Metering systems and to design a methodology for testing two real systems. Measurements were made in laboratory conditions on prepared tasks that covered all types of technology, both broadband and narrowband with one or more carriers. In addition, a methodology for testing PLC communications in Smart Metering systems was developed, which was applied to two systems using different technologies. On the basis of the results achieved, it was decided which of the two systems is more suitable for real use according to the methodology and set of short-term measurements.

Intelligent wattmeter with network communication options (Ethernet / WiFi)
Haluška, Daniel ; Juráň, Radovan (referee) ; Rusz, Martin (advisor)
The goal of the Bachelor Thesis is the implementation of a measuring device for measuring alternating voltage, current and calculating of power consumption. A voltage divider with one-way offset is used for voltage measurement, and the ACS712 integrated circuit with a Hall sensor provides electric current measurement. The Arduino singleboard computer, for which the OLED display is suitable, takes care of the representation and calculation of the electrical power. Furthermore, this device allows communication with the Internet and through the server allows a simple graphical display of measured data. The manufactured measuring device allows measuring power regular outlet up to 3680 W.

Rusz, Martin ; Mlýnek, Petr
The conference paper focuses on the testing ofa polygon for the role of Power Line Communication (PLC) inensuring compliance with ISO 15118 and IEC 61851 standardsin Electric Vehicle Supply Equipments (EVSE). The study aimsto validate the effectiveness of the proposed polygon as a testplatform for evaluating the performance and interoperabilityof EVSEs that utilize PLC technology for communication withelectric vehicle (EV). The proposed polygon is a reliable testplatform for evaluating the compliance of EVSEs with ISO15118 and IEC 61851 standards, and can help in identifying andresolving interoperability issues between different EVSEs andEVs. The paper highlights the importance of ensuring compliancewith these standards for the reliable and efficient operation ofEVSEs, and demonstrates the potential of the proposed testpolygon as a useful tool for achieving this goal.

Visualization of PLC/BPL communication in the map
Klíma, Petr ; Rusz, Martin (referee) ; Benešl, Lukáš (advisor)
The bachelor thesis deals with the implementation of an application for visualization of the PLC communication network (PowerLine Communication). The principle, advantages, disadvantages and variants of this type of communication are analyzed. Attention is also given to the use of this technology, especially in the construction of smart grids and for the diagnosis of cable lines, which is also used by the application. The thesis also deals with the problem of predicting the state of cable lines and the parameters on which this prediction is based. Some current possibilities of map visualization are also discussed and the application itself is created using the javascript library Leaflet and static map tiles. The application is focused on BPL technology, but it allows storing data on any connection made by any transmission technology. It allows displaying information about the network and displaying network elements on a map, filtering BPL connections according to the state of the cabling, configuring individual parts of the topology and the ability to create and read database backups. The behavior of the application can be easily modified by editing the file with constants.
