Data diagnostics in modern car control units
Hájek, Ondřej ; Vítek, Richard (referee) ; Prokeš, Aleš (advisor)
Presented Diploma thesis is aimed on design and implementation of car diagnostic interface of engine control units EDC. Diagnostic interface provide communication between car and computer by USB interface. User will be able to task commands by developed computer application. For developing application is necessary to get information about used protocols and basic knowledge in car’s hardware. Understanding OBD2 standard and communication protocol CAN, eventually KWP is necessary for design the solution. Main purpose of this thesis is to store enough usable information about car diagnostic for future continuation.
Driver of Semiconductor laser for 1Gbit/s
Melichárek, Radek ; Vařacha, František (referee) ; Prokeš, Aleš (advisor)
This thesis describes a design of a driver for a specific type of laser VCSEL. Models for simulation in PSpice OrCAD have been developed for this type of laser. The qualities of the designed driver aim to be equal to the integrated drivers that are available and to remove some of their drawbacks. It consists of the following components: input LVPECL receiver/driver, differential amplifier, fixed source of a modulation current, circuit of automatic power control. Regulation of the modulation current is dealt with atypically using an aptly selected input LVPECL receiver/driver which enables to control the voltage amplitude on its output by means of voltage. The thesis also describes different types of coupling between laser and driver. The most appropriate alternative is selected taking into consideration the unconventional design of the driver. The connection of the driver is supplemented by a microcontroller which secures control of output optical power by means of a serial bus RS232.

Podzimek, David ; Vařacha, František (referee) ; Prokeš, Aleš (advisor)
The aim of Master thesis "Control and monitoring unit for optical link station" is a web server, enabling communication microcontroller with the user. The communication is based on TCP/IP model. Work an overview of the various parts of the TCP/IP model. The main part of this work is devoted to the software created. The core of unit are microcontroller C8051F120 and ethernet controller CP2200 made by Silicon Laboratories.
Implementation of software radio into FPGA
Šrámek, Petr ; Maršálek, Roman (referee) ; Prokeš, Aleš (advisor)
The common objective of this project is implementation of software defined radio (SDR) into FPGA. The text contains review and comparison of several hardware concepts intended for SDRs implementation then the methods for digital implementation of various components of radios as the filters, mixers and others are mentioned. Part of the text introduces used hardware platform and describes software support for designing, simulations and implementation into hardware. Significant part of project describes complex of external hardware components as filter, amplifier and control panel designed and built within the project realization. But the main part of project demonstrates design of the software solution of radio receiver. There is specified architecture of radio for FM broadcast receiving, next the more complex systems with carrier recovery algorithm are presented. These systems are able to work with AM, BPSK and QPSK modulations. It is possible to implement all these receivers into hardware and verify their operation. The practical laboratory theme has been outlined within the project run.
Pseudo-random sequencies in UWB systems
Laška, Richard ; Maršálek, Roman (referee) ; Prokeš, Aleš (advisor)
This master´s thesis deals with Ultra-wideband and reveals present stage of this technology and situation on marketplace. In this work I will mention the milestones of its history and describe main fundamentals of communication and modulation methods in UWB systems. This work provides an overview of methods in pseudo-noise code design. The practical part includes UWB system simulation based on BPSK modulation and Directsequence multi-access scenario. This work presents BPSK modulated signal behavior in UWB channel model, where AWGN noise and multi-path energy is taken into account. Only physical layer was tested. At the end of this thesis, the summary and conclusion simulation results will be discussed. Bit error rate characteristic is a product of this testing.
Control of the communication on the USB
Hlavica, Zdeněk ; Michálek, Václav (referee) ; Prokeš, Aleš (advisor)
The aim of Master’s thesis Control of the communication on the USB is realization hardware and software designed for microcontroller C8051F120 what is enabling recording of data on memory medium Flash drive. It includes study of USB, transfer protocols, which are needed and file system. The thesis deals about host type USB controllers and about USB controller MAX3421E fy Maxim, which has been choosen for development of software. It is required ability to create directories and files including recording data to file and ability of reading data from files in the file system FAT16.
Software tester of embedded module communication based on AT commands
Kondr, Aleš ; Prokeš, Aleš (referee) ; Kubíček, Michal (advisor)
The graduation thesis deals with AT commands and the implementation of these in modules of wireless communication. These commands are mainly used for the obtaining and setting of different parameters of such modules. A form of the AT commands and a manner in which these are sent to modules are described. For selected wireless modules, there is a set of AT commands determined together with a brief description of the functions of these. A manner of creation of macroblocks for the TeraTerm program is also mentioned; macroblocks are able to establish communication with the module connected and allow for measurement and testing of communication appliances. This is suitable especially for the automation of such a process. As such a system (program) is not widely known, a thorough description of this system is given together with a description of measuring and testing macroblocks. The last part of the thesis deals with the creation of an application enabling the user to control quickly and easily an inserted appliance. A very detailed description of this application is given. Due to an absence of an advanced graphic interface, such an application has not been created by means of a system of macroblocks for the TeraTerm program, but it has been created in the JAVA programming language.

Semiconductor laser driver for 1Gbit/s
Chlachula, Filip ; Křivák, Petr (referee) ; Prokeš, Aleš (advisor)
This master´s thesis deals with a solution of the driving circuits of semiconductor laser. In the beginning of the thesis there is an analysis of semiconductor lasers and its characteristics. Then the principle of laser diodes and its excitation is described. This thesis is focused on semiconductor laser excitation through the use of direct and modulating current. Several circuits are described, designed and simulated. The best resulting circuit is realized and measured in the laboratory.
LCD monitors
Kančo, Jan ; Prokeš, Aleš (referee) ; Michálek, Václav (advisor)
LCD monitors brought new problems to plotting of quality of monitors (and visual equipment). Important parameter is response time of LCD monitor. The consequences of nonzero response time are motion artifacts, which are undesirable part of final scene. Response time depends on technology of production and dimension is typical for single technology. Measuring of response time may bring idea of using measured LCD monitor. Rightly response time decides, if monitor is enough “fast” for action video, games, etc, or other parameters are decisive. Producers of LCD panels assign response time which are measured in certain conditions and measured in different ways. The target of this project is designing digital meter response of LCD monitors, but also verification of response times of choice panels.
