Back School focused on sitting position

This paper seeks to contribute to problems of the Back School and tries to apply it to three clients. They were chosen as a model example of people, to whom the Back School should be of assistance. Practical research was focused on "sitting", perhaps the most problematic area, which in times as dominated by sitting as today's, afflicts clients the most. It also contributes to the general application of the Back School and its benefits to clients in their pain caused by inappropriate motion patterns. The theoretical part defines the Back school and explores it's history, aim and methods. It also deals with pathophysiology and etiology of vertebral problems and considers also the influence of psyche and breathing on the locomotor system. Chapters which deal with sitting also inform about the influence of sitting on the organism. Brügger's concept of sitting is discussed and different forms of sitting analyzed. A part of the paper is also concerned with ergonomy of furniture designed for sitting and ergonomic aids. The practical part consists of diagnostics and therapy proposals for each client. Their therapy was designed according to methods discussed in the practical part of this paper. The outcome is a clear positive influence if the Back school on the clients.
