Awareness of Pediatricians and Social Workers on Early Intervention Services
PLÁŠILOVÁ, Dana
The theoretical part includes the demarcation of circumstances in which young children may develop a disability as well as rehabilitation options. Furthermore, it deals with the history and progress of early years care in the Czech Republic. It also touches on the topic of how to impart the adverse diagnosis on parents or how to handle such situations. The results of the study reveal that while the social workers at the department for social matters and healthcare as well as paediatricians in the České Budějovice area are aware of the existence of early years care, they do not pass on this information to families at such a level that they may decide whether or not they wish to make use of these services of early years care. The families at the České Budějovice Early Years Care Centre obtain information about early years care prevalently from specialists in large hospitals. They would appreciate being given this information directly at the maternal ward or hospital where the baby was born, or from their paediatrician
