Handshapes in Czech Sign Language and Types of Its Signs (Frequency analysis of Communication of Czech Deaf)
Oberfalzerová, Anna ; Richterová, Klára (advisor) ; Nováková, Radka (referee)
The thesis will deal with the frequency analysis of handshapes and types of signs in the Czech sign language. The analysis will be based on authentic communications of the Czech deaf with different characteristics (signers of different sex, age, education etc.) as well as communications representing the influence of different objective factors, viz. private vs. public communications, monologues vs. dialogues etc. The results of the frequency analysis will be compared both to analogous results of research in other sign languages, such as American, Australian and British, and to the results of frequency analysis of passive handshapes, or unmarked handshapes in the Czech sign language.
