The Proposal of Electrical Maintenance Downtime Elimination
Novotný, František ; Pacas, Radek (referee) ; Videcká, Zdeňka (advisor)
This thesis is focused on description, analysis and minimization of downtime periods related to electricity maintenance activities. In theoretical part various kinds of wasting are described, which can happen during the work of electrician. In the plant Ventily the most faulty machines were found out from analysis of records and appropriate solutions were proposed. In addition to this consecutive company profits were evaluated.
Security of VoIP protocols
Novotný, František ; Číka, Petr (referee) ; Krajsa, Ondřej (advisor)
This bachelor dissertation deals with the VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) safety. The most used transport and signal protocols employing this technology are presented first. Two extended protocols, SIP (Session Initiation Protocol) and IAX (Inter-Asterisk eXchange Protocol), as well as open source Asterisk, which is closely connected with these protocols, are shown in detail. After that, methods, attacks and threats able to assure secure transfer in the use of VoIP among users are described. Afterwards the practical part of this essay, divided into two parts, is presented. In the first part, a passive attack in the form of tapping is demonstrated, and in the second, active attacks are described which take the form of forced cancellations and forwarded calls between two communicating users. With both attacks, safety measures that could effectively prevent against their potential attacking are proposed. In the closing part, the VoIP safety is evaluated for securing a quality connection between users communicating through it.
Crosstalk analysis and modelling
Novotný, František ; Mišurec, Jiří (referee) ; Zeman, Václav (advisor)
The thesis concerns the problem of interference modelling for xDSL technologies and Ethernet. The introduction describes the origin of crosstalk, that arise during the operation of the systems and the physical properties of the lines, therefore, the next section describes the properties of the primary and secondary parameters of the homogenous line and their modelling. In order to achieve higher data rates on the metallic line, systems with larger frequency spectrum are applied, resulting in a greater attenuation of the line. This issue and the characteristics determination of the transmission systems are subjects of the mathematical models, which are divided according to the modelling of primary or secondary parameters. The main goal of this work is to describe the effects which influence the performance of data transfer via xDSL and Ethernet technology focusing on internal and external disturbances acting on the cable lines. This is the crosstalk at the near and far end, adaptive white noise, radio frequency interference RFI and impulse noise. Following part of the thesis deals with the properties of xDSL technologies, specifically ADSL2+ and VDSL2 and Ethernet. Another aim is to design applications which enable to test the performance of xDSL and Ethernet transmission systems with its own award simulations interference. The conclusion describes the design and implementation of laboratory experiments for measuring of the efficiency and spectral properties of xDSL. The proposed laboratory protocols are annexed to this thesis, including the measured waveforms.
Comparative study of social harms due to alcohol consumption between 2019-2021
Novotný, František ; Cuker, Ivan (advisor) ; Matoušek, Petr (referee)
This bachelor's thesis is the first to compare the social damage due to alcohol consumption between 2019-2021, i.e. before the Covid-19 pandemic and during the pandemic, when numerous restrictions came into force. The work defines in detail the concept of AHTO (Alcohol's Harm To Others), its relevance, research and measurement techniques. An important part of the theoretical section is the definition of individual dimensions of the AHTO concept, which I follow up in the creation of research tools and in the interpretation of results. The practical part then analyses the collected data and tests the hypotheses that were established in connection with the main and secondary research questions.
Multiple Peace Operations in Mali
Novotný, František ; Bureš, Oldřich (advisor) ; Ludvík, Zdeněk (referee)
In recent years, some scholars have turned their attention towards the problem of multiple simultaneous peace operations (MSPOs), but with little focus on state motivations for their initiation. This thesis examines the case of the conflict in Mali and the high amount of operations deployed there by different actors. It does so through an instrumental case study of the establishment of these operations and of the French role in this process. The thesis finds that France was at first eager to deal with the conflict by supporting regional actors, but with the crisis deteriorating, becoming ever more involved. Next to its own intervention, it led various international organizations to operate alongside it in order to share the conflict management burden while remaining critically influential and securing its goals. This approach allowed France to balance the interests of its domestic audience, western allies, as well as those of the governments in the region. Based on the analysis, the thesis suggests that the proclaimed logic of division of labor between different organizations deploying MSPOs might be a justification for primarily generating as much resources as available while reducing various kinds of costs, although without any explicit evidence for it being a conscious effort of using the...
Secessionism, external suport and parent states' reaction: cases in East Africa and former Yugoslavia
Novotný, František ; Doboš, Bohumil (advisor) ; Bahenský, Vojtěch (referee)
This thesis attempts to understand how external support for a secessionist movement influences the parent state's strategy towards it. This question has not been well explored yet and remains relevant. The thesis tests the external security theory of secessionist conflict. The theory hypothesizes that likelihood of future war and higher levels of external support lead parent states to adopt more repressive strategies against secessionists. Likelihood of future war is understood here as determined by the relative war proneness of the region and the depth of ethnic divides between the given groups. Two pairs of comparative case studies are performed, of South Sudan and Ogaden, and of Kosovo and Serbian Krajina. The thesis concludes that the theory does explain the cases in Ogaden and Serbian Krajina, while it does not hold in the cases of Kosovo and South Sudan. It is suggested that this might be the case because of their support by the United States, an internationally dominant, yet stability-seeking power.
