Métis and Canadian expansion policy
Libichová, Karolína ; Valkoun, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Boček, Martin (referee)
The bachelor's thesis deals with the mixed Métis population, in the territory of today's Canadian province of Manitoba, during the expansion of the dominion to the West. It focuses on the period between 1867-1885, when the efforts of the Dominion of Canada were manifested to join Manitoba as another Canadian province. These efforts began to restrict the Métis and culminated in the rebellions on the Red River and the Northwest Rebellion, led by Louis Riel, today one of the most controversial figures in Canadian history.
