The role of credit rating agencies in evaluating risks

In this thesis I deal with role of rating agencies in the context of today's financial crisis. In particular, I focus on the segment evaluation of credit rating structured securities, the three largest credit rating agencies. The main part of this work include: financing credit rating agencies and regulation of credit rating agencies in the U.S. and the EU, securitization and the role of rating agencies and analysis of default studies of rating agencies. The last part is the comparison of default rates of structured finance segment by rating notches and comparison of volatility ratings of structured securities by rating notches selected the rating agencies. The time frame I set in the period from 2005 to 2012, which is evident during the financial crisis and its impact on changes in notches and default rates.
Comparison of Exchange Alliances Euronext and CEE Stock Exchange Group

This thesis is focused on the issue of comparing stock exchanges of Eastern Europe, represented by stock exchange alliance Euronext, stock exchanges of Central and Eastern Eu-rope are presented in this thesis by CEE Stock Exchange Group. For each stock markets is given their historical development, followed by the organizational structure and principles of membership under both exchange alliances. The second chapter deals with the trading system and traded instruments, which are compared to both stock exchanges in absolute and relative perspective. The section about the data analysis is focused on the development of stock ex-change indexes of each exchange, as well as indices, presenting the evolution of stock prices in alliances themselves. Further data analysis is focused on market capitalization of the two stock exchange alliances and a number of traded companies on these markets. Outlook for the future is outlined by using elements of technical analysis.
Analysis of payment systems in the Czech republic and Slovak republic

This thesis analyses the interbank payment systems in the Czech republic and Slovak republic. First chapter includes the definitions and basic characteristics of payment system and payment services. Both analysed countries are members of the European Union, next chapter so defines its payment systems and their legislation background, with the focus on TARGET2 system. Chapter 3 and 4 concentrate on characteristics of Czech and Slovak payment systems from different points of view. In Slovakia, there are two payment systems, large-value system TARGET2-SK and retail system SIPS. In Czech Republic operates only one payment system CERTIS for both types of transactions. The last and main part of thesis is devoted to detailed analysis of statistical data for these payment systems concerning the period from 2006 to 2011.
