Meaning of a psychedelic experience in cancer patients

This bachelor thesis explores the topic of psychedelic substances, the meaning of experience with these substances and its impact on experiencing the diagnosis in cancer patients. The literature review section first introduces psychedelic substances and their mechanism of action, with attention also given to the context of psychedelic experience with its risks and general safe use of the substances. It further discusses the phenomenology of psychedelic experience and therapeutic potential of psychedelic substances. The following chapter focuses on cancer and its impact on mental individual's psyche, along with possible therapeutic approaches to such patients. The thesis integrates these two subjects and maps the available knowledge on the psychedelic experience in individuals with cancer and other life-threatening conditions. The research project proposal explores the potential relevance of the psychedelic experience, specifically in population of patients diagnosed with cancer. The research is designed as qualitative in nature, based on selected findings outlined in the literature review section. The aim of this research project is to examine the questions whether and what importance and meaning cancer patients attach to their experience with psychedelic substances in connection with their disease.
Psychedelic experience and attitude towards death

Theoretical part of this bachelor thesis is focused on psychedelics substances and its effects. It focuses on the context of psychedelics experience and its relationship to psychedelics fenomenology specifically its course, quality, intensity and longterm changes in bahavior and experiencing. It focuses in more detail on mystical experience during pychedelic experience. This thesis also focuses on particular attitudes toward death, their meaning for an individual and his life. This Thesis present summary of factors which are related to specific attitude toward death and which may be ralated to specific fenomenology during psychedelic experience. Aim of this thesis is to find out if there is a relationship between psychedelic experience and attitude toward death. Design of this kvantitative research is focused on psychedelic users with psychedelic experience. Research uses Mystical Experience Questionnarie (MEQ), Challenging Experience Questionnarie (CEQ) and Death Attitude Profile - Revised (DAP-R) to fing out what psychedelic experience was experienced in uncotrolled kontext by non-clinical psychedelic users and tries to put this experience in a relationship with a attitude toward death. Use of psychedelic substances and well-being

The main goal of this Bachelor's thesis is to map the context of psychedelic substance use and well-being. The theoretical part defines the concept of well-being including its basic predictors. It also defines classical psychedelics, presents the history and the present of psychedelic research, and describes the mechanism of the effect of these substances on humans including the risks associated with their use. The main part of this work summarizes the existing studies focused on examining the relationship between psychedelic substances and well-being, both in clinical studies on patients and healthy volunteers, and in observational studies dealing with the use of psychedelics in an uncontrolled environment. The empirical part contains a research proposal, which aims to compare the average values of well-being of users of these substances and non-users and to find out how users themselves evaluate psychedelic experience in relation to well-being and how important the safety of using these substances is for them. The meaning of 3,4-Methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA) use in romantic relationships

In recent decades, researchers' focus has returned to investigation of MDMA (3,4-Methylene- dioxymethamphetamine) effects and its possible psychotherapeutic applications including its use in context of conjoint psychotherapy. This bachelor thesis summarizes both studies of MDMA, "ecstasy" respectively, effects on interpersonal relationships and use of this substance in narrower context of couple relationships. The thesis also discusses possible overlaps between factors included in quality of couple relationship and effects of MDMA or "ecstasy". Based on the presented knowledge the thesis proposes a qualitative study aimed to examine the role of "ecstasy" use in couple relationships and it also suggests the possibilities of future research.
