Process Optimization
Vilém, Jan ; Hrabec, Dušan (referee) ; Popela, Pavel (advisor)
This bachelor's thesis examine the problem of the process optimization in mechanical engineering. It contains optimization model to optimize cutting conditions in turning. The problem was programmed in the GAMS system as linear and nonlinear problem. Limiting conditions are generally defined for several types of technological processes.
Engineering Optimization
Kokrda, Lukáš ; Hrabec, Dušan (referee) ; Popela, Pavel (advisor)
The bachelor thesis deals with convex optimization and in particular, it processes a design of the optimal support of a loaded beam. For better understanding of the terms used, the bachelor thesis contains the brief introduction to the convex optimization problems, explanation of the basic therms of ordinary dierential equations and theory of elasticity. When the original model is built, then the results are obtained by computations in the MATLAB software.
Optimization of traffic engineering problems
Le, Huy ; Hošek, Jaromír (referee) ; Hrabec, Dušan (advisor)
This bachelor thesis focuses on optimization of traffic light control of intersection, more specifically looks for optimal minimal signal plan of intersection considering given requirements. Theoretical part is about suppositions and basic definitions, after that usable algorithms for this problem are described in details. Practical part deals with application of these algorithms on specific example of intersection and compares obtained results afterwards.
Mathematical models for transportation problems
Brzobohatý, Jan ; Hrabec, Dušan (referee) ; Popela, Pavel (advisor)
This bachelor's thesis deals with stochastic dominance. The goal is to lay the foundations for defining stochastic dominance, to describe its properties and to explain this term on simple examples. Another goal is to apply this term to network problems with random transport price. Examples in this thesis also contain solutions and code to find these solutions written in GAMS language.
Optimization in Engineering Design
Hrabec, Dušan ; Mrázková, Eva (referee) ; Popela, Pavel (advisor)
The aim of present work is to show possibilities of optimization for special basic examples of engineering design. The discussed models have been implemented in GAMS and the corresponding calculations have been performed. The knowledge of linear and non-linear programming is utilized.
Optimization models supporting strategic decisions in waste management
Mazlová, Lenka ; Hrabec, Dušan (referee) ; Nevrlý, Vlastimír (advisor)
This diploma thesis focuses on the creation of a complex optimization model for network flow problem in waste management. The main goal is designing a model of mixed integer programming problem that includes every aspect from production to waste treatment, its implementation in the Julia programming language and the description of the obtained results. The final model can plan transport routes, determine the method of waste transportation and allocate processing and treatment facilities, including sizing their capacities. This model is then used for test calculations on real data from Czech Republic.
Selected Advanced Stochastic Programming Models
Brzobohatý, Jan ; Hrabec, Dušan (referee) ; Popela, Pavel (advisor)
This diploma thesis deals with stochastic dominance. The goal is to lay the foundations for defining stochastic dominance, to describe its properties and to explain this concept on simple examples. Another goal is to apply this concept to network problems with random price. Examples in this thesis also contain solutions and python code how to find them.
Optimization in Finance
Sowunmi, Ololade ; Hrabec, Dušan (referee) ; Popela, Pavel (advisor)
This thesis presents two Models of portfolio optimization, namely the Markowitz Mean Variance Optimization Model and the Rockefeller and Uryasev CVaR Optimization Model. It then presents an application of these models to a portfolio of clean energy assets for optimal allocation of financial resources in terms of maximum returns and low risk. This is done by writing GAMS programs for these optimization problems. An in-depth analysis of the results is conducted, and we see that the difference between both models is not very significant even though these results are data-specific.
Optimization and algorithms for traffic engineering problems
Fajmon, Michal ; Popela, Pavel (referee) ; Hrabec, Dušan (advisor)
This master's thesis deals with optimization of traffic networks. There are discussed modeling methods for traffic and simplifications used in these models. Introductory part is focused on mathematical theory used to buid presented model. Main focus of this thesis was creation and optimization of the model which describes real world traffic network with traffic lights. Model was tested on both artificial and real data gathered in city Zlín. It was necessary to create generator which can produce suitable input data for model.
