A Musculoskeletal Ergonomics Specialist: A New Work Position

The objective of the thesis is the elaboration of a business plan and the establishment a position of expert in the field of musculoskeletal ergonomics. The work deals with the analysis environment and competition in this area, as well as constructing a marketing mix, costing and budget. Special part of the thesis deals with the economic impacts caused by musculoskeletal, disorders with respect to work activities, prevention, of such, disorders, and, the advantages and disadvantages of establishing of a new working position musculoskeletal ergonomics area.
The practice of Traditional Chinese Medicine in the Czech Republic

This Bachelor thesis deals with the description of the situation of Traditional Chinese Medicine in the Czech Republic. Therefore it is not based on specialised literature only, but primarily on a questionnaire research and personal interviews with therapists of Chinese Medicine. In order to enhance the validity of the study, the research was conducted between four differently interested groups. The sample of respondents was divided into therapists, physicians, clients of Chinese Medicine and patients of Western Medicine. Another important source of information was the media. The turning point for Chinese Medicine in the Czech Republic is represented in the socio-political revolution in the 1990s. The revolution enabled the development of Chinese Medicine which continues up to the present. This thesis describes the current situation of the field and looks at options for studying Chinese Medicine, public interest in the treatment, and critique from defenders of Western Medicine who wish to preserve and develop only the scientific way of healing. The Embroidery of Indian Banjaras as an Expression of Their Style of Life

The embroidery of the Banjara people makes an important part of Indian culture, The Banjara are a previously migrating non-hinduistic ethnic, today mostly settled and merging with the hinduistic population which represents the majority. We still have very scarce information about this distinctive textile production. This theses is based on mostly Indian studies, as well as on field-work which was carried out in fourteen Banjara communities living in two Indian states, Maharashtra and Karnataka. Another source of information were several collections of Banjara textile in important European museums and a collection of more than 550items in the Czech Republic. The theses focuses on five subjects: 1. The typology of the fourty most common and traditional types of textile pieces made by Banjara women, 2. The description of the material and embroidery techniques, 3. The attempt of the iconography analysis of the Banjara embroidery, 4. The provenience of the Banjara traditional pieces, and 5. The description of the state of art of the mbroidery which still exists in the present day Banjara communities. Alois Musil - Czech Orientalist and Publicist

This bachelor thesis deals with the academic and popularize activities of Alois Musil Czech Arabist and Orientalist. The first part of thesis outline life of Alois Musil which is the key to understanding his publications, whether academic or purely towards the wider public. Biographical section aims to highlight moments and contemporary context, which led the priest originally from Hana begin the way of life of cartographer, ethnographer and ethnologist of the Middle East, parts of the Maghreb, the Horn of Africa and India, making him an indelible place in the human history and discoveries. The main part of the thesis is the analysis of academic and popularize activities of Alois Musil with special emphasis on the period of his tenure in the Czechoslovakian Radio. This part is divided into three subsections, each of them is separately dedicated to: academic activities, further popularize activities, and lastly works for Czechoslovakian Radio. These parts are based on extensive works of Alois Musil written in Czech and English language and his own lectures recorded for Czechoslovakian Radio after 1930. Uzbek community in the Prague

This thesis thematically deals with Uzbek minority in Prague, which was formed during the last two decades. Main part contain and analyze the structure of the Uzbek minority, and I used the statistics concerning number, working and educational activities, gender representation, territorial decomposition, crime and infringements of residential regime of Uzbek immigrants. I focus also on determination of expanse and method of integration in the majority society environment, patterns of behavior and thinking and culture aspects of everyday life in the minority group. From the research methods I use survey, in-depth interviews and participant observation. I place emphasis on the definition of "push" and "pull" factors of immigration. In addition, I document how the Uzbek Immigrants assess social and cultural environment of the host country, their attitudes and opinions to the people of the Czech Republic and members of other nationalities, especially to those with whom they come in a host country usually in contact, and how they integrate in the Czech environment. I also pay big attention to the changes that took place in the Uzbek community during life in the Czech Republic, including the period after 2008 due to the recession of Czech economy and restrict working opportunities and perspectives....

Josef Colloredo-Mannsfelds Travels Travels to North America (1904 - 1906) Řešitel Anežka Jiráková Školitel Doc. PhDr. Irena Štěpánová, CSc. Abstract Between years 1904 and 1906 realised Josef Colloredo-Mannsfeld (1866 - 1957) two travels to North America. He was accompanied by his wife Yvonne. Both several months lasting travels took place in winter. Their accurate reconstruction is impossible due to the lack of archive materials. Most information has been preserved in Joseph's itinerary, where he wrote about visiting Alaska and Yukon in 1904. Josef brought back a number of animal trophies and valuable ethnographic material, which now can be seen in Opočno castle or in Náprstek museum in Prague. The author of this diploma thesis focuses mainly on the reconstruction and describing of the travels, she also discusses the personality of Josef Colloredo- Mannsfeld and writes about hunting, travelling and understanding of ethnicity in the contemporary context.

It shows the settlement of this area, the emergence of Czech villages and life in them. The Czechs came from the almost two centuries, and the atmosphere is characterized by their homes. Currently they are living in six villages. Their livelihood is in the early 21st century began to change. Recently in this area is coming every year more and more Czech tourists. The traditional nomads cultures of the Central Asia

Turkic nomadic tribes of the Central Asia, in fact the traditional material and spiritual cultures of nomadic Kazakh, Kyrkyz, Turkmen and Uzbek peoples, are described in this diploma paper. Territory classified in this paper as Central Asia is limited to the territory of five states: Kazakhstan, Kyrkyzstan, Turkmenstan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan. The theme is also limited by other linquistic and political criteria. Therefore e.g. Tajik (belonging to Iranian linguistic family) or Karakalpak cultures (ethnic minority within Uzbekistan territory) are set aside this theme. The whole paper is divided into two parts, the former one consisting of five chapters introducing the area and its historical background represents the essentials for the latter one devoted to the phenomenon of nomadic shephards and manifestation of their culture. The period between the 18th century and the 20s of the 20th century is described in the second part. Most of the first records were provided by the Russian researchers. After the Soviet Union had been established further field research and ethnographic expeditions were organized and vast amount of materials dealing with cultures of the Central Asian peoples were gathered. Ballroom Dancing in the Czech Social Environment in the 2nd half of the 19th Century

Thesis deals with the theme of ballroom dancing in Prague bourgeoisie society in the 2nd half of the 19th century. The theme is situated in social and historical context and contemporary political situation. The second part is dedicated to prague associations, Sokol of Prague and sokol festivities. That part of the text proceeds from analysis of the articles and contributions of the journal Sokol (from years 1871-1895). The following chapter about ballroom dancing tries to focus on the types of free time activities which are connected with dancing in the milieu of Prague Czech-speaking society in the 2nd half of the 19th century. It also characterises favourite ballroom dances at that time in the context of social and cultural life. One of the last chapters is dedicated to the relationship of a significant public figure of that time, Jan Neruda, with ballroom dancing. These passages are based on selected examples of Neruda's texts, adopted mostly from Národní Listy. The main intention of the extracts is to complete the picture of ballroom dancing with personal reflection of Neruda as a great dancer, expert on literature and artist. Muslim Burials in the Czech Republic

Author of the thesis writes about problems surrounding Muslim burials in the Czech Republic. This thesis concentrates on the influence of a Muslim traditions related to burying deceased and possible problems which may arise in the Czech Republic. Historical development is not omitted during acceptance of Islam in the Czech area and consequences for the funeral industry. Author further deals with current laws and new possibilities concerning Muslim burials in the Czech Republic. The thesis has been able to find out the possibilities of preserving traditions in funeral rituals. In addition, the current Czech laws on burial were examined and conclusions drawn from them for possible changes or compromises concerning not only Muslim burial, but also other cultural traditions with specifics.
