Deformation and petrological record of polyphase quartzo-feldspathic rocks in Erzgebirge, Bohemian Massif
Kryl, Jakub ; Lexa, Ondrej (advisor) ; Závada, Prokop (referee) ; Hasalová, Pavlína (referee)
The Erzgebirge dome, exposing Proterozoic - Early Palaeozoic metagranitoids and metasedimentary rocks of the Saxothuringian domain in the Bohemian Massif, is formed by a tectonic stack of several UHP-HP and HT units exhumed during the Variscan continental subduction-collision process. A systematic study of orthogneiss deformation microstructures carried out on a regional scale has been done to evaluate these units' extent and relative structural position in the subduction complex. Five different microstructural types have been distinguished, revealing two overprinting sequences with 1) coarse-grained microstructures in the parautochthonous Kateřina-Reitzenhain Dome and 2) fine- grained microstructures in the allochthonous HP-HT Gneiss Eclogite Unit I. P-T conditions of the individual overprinting microstructures calculated by conventional thermobarometry suggest continuous deformation during exhumation along two contrasting P-T paths. The warmer one in the parautochthonous unit showed exhumation from ~13.5 kbar and ~820 ◦C to ~3 kbar and ~500 ◦C, while the colder one in the allochthonous unit showed exhumation from ~16 kbar and ~740 ◦C to ~3 kbar and ~400 ◦C. The overprinting microstructures are associated with vertical shortening interpreted as ductile thinning. This deformation started at depths...
Formation of mafic granulites as a result of metamorphic and metasomatic processes at the contact of felsic and ultramafic lithologies (Dunkelsteiner Wald granulite massif, Bohemian Massif)
Zelinková, Tereza ; Racek, Martin (advisor) ; Hasalová, Pavlína (referee)
English Abstract The Dunkelsteiner Wald granulite massif in Lower Austria belongs to the Gföhl unit of the Moldanubian zone of the Bohemian Massif. Predominant rocks are felsic granulites which in some places contain garnet pyroxenites and peridotites. There are positions of mafic and intermediate granulites on their intersection. Primary mineral association of mafic granulites is garnet, clinopyroxene rich on Jd and Ca-Tschermack component and kyanite. These rocks probably represent Ca-richer variant of pyroxenites. Contemporary mineral association is make by garnet, clinopyroxene, plagioclase and orthopyroxene. Accessory there is amphibole, spinel, rutile and Ilmenite in the rocks. Sapphire inclusion in garnet cores close to kyanite inclusions has been observed in several cases. Decompression of these rocks creates specific symplectite textures in mafic granulites characterized by plagioclase inclusions. These inclusions are partly or fully surrounded by garnet porphyroblasts on their edges and coarse grain symplectics of plagioclase and pyroxene in matrix. A possible explanation of emergence of this specific texture in rocks on intersection with felsic granulite is an infiltration of melt from felsic lithology. Proof can be the enrichment of K component on edges of plagioclase grains. On the other hand,...
Analysis of metamorphic evolution of the Královský hvozd Unit
Raisigl, Michal ; Racek, Martin (advisor) ; Hasalová, Pavlína (referee)
The internal structure of Variscides and the processes of their development have been an object of many geological studies for a long time. One of the important parts is the contact of Teplá-Barrandian unit and Moldanubian unit which is located in Královský hvozd unit. The aim of this study is an interpretation of metamorphic processes which took place in the studied area. First part deals with thermodnamic principles and different aproaches that applies in the study of these processes. Next part is an summary of knowledges of Variscides structure in Bohemian Massif and existing studies of Královský hvozd unit. Petrografical and chemical analysis are given in third part together with the interpretation of metamorphic processes.
