This thesis deals with a novel The Two Churches written by an important Italian writer of the second half of the twentieth century and the beginning of the twenty-first century, Sebastiano Vassalli. The thesis is divided into two parts. The first part is dedicated to the life and work of Sebastiano Vassalli. The second part focuses on the compositional, thematic, and narrative analysis of the novel.

Italian refugees in the surroundings of Sušice during the First World War

This thesis deals with the Italian refugees in the surroundings of Sušice during the First World War. The first chapter summarizes the problem of the First World War in the Czech and the Italian historiography. What follows is the introduction of the problem of the Italian refugees and the perception of this phenomenon again by the Czech and the Italian historiography. The second chapter is based on the primary sources research and its aim is to map the sojourn of the Italian refugees in the region of Sušice in 19151919.
