Public awareness of hormonal contraceptives in the Czech Republic
Krůtová, Irena ; Fanta, Michael (advisor) ; Syrová, Hana (referee)
This bachelor thesis provides an insight into how the public is aware of both the negative and positive impacts of hormonal contraceptives. Nowadays, hormonal contraceptives are one of the most common methods of contraception. Although being so popular, people are not much aware either of the other potential positive effects (in addition to contraception) or of the negative impacts that hormonal contraceptives have upon the organism of a woman. Hormonal contraceptives do not only influence the fertility of a woman, but also various biochemical processes in the woman's body. The theoretical part of this thesis makes the reader aware of the fundamental principles of menstrual cycle, development of hormonal contraceptives of all types worldwide that are used nowadays and in particular of the positive and negative effects of hormonal contraceptives upon the organism of a woman. The practical part contains an analysis of a questionnaire investigation. The aim of this thesis is to find out how the public is informed of the positive and negative effects of hormonal contraceptives and to make aware of the occurrence of such effects among the general public. Key words: hormonal contraception, thromboembolic disease, risk of contraception, side effects, contraception effects, menstruation, contraceptive methods

Fridrichová, Tereza ; Fanta, Michael (advisor) ; Černý, Andrej (referee)
The theme of my bachelor thesis is called "Awareness of women about endometriosis in the Czech Republic". The thesis consists of two parts - theoretical and practical. In the theoretical part, I deal with the anatomy and physiology of female genitals. The next chapter focuses directly on endometriosis. Contains subchapters related to with the characteristics, origin, clinical symptoms, diagnosis, treatment, etc. Last but not least, I focus on the role of the midwife in the care of a woman with endometriosis. In the practical part, I examined women's awareness of endometriosis. To collect the data, I used an anonymous quantitative questionnaire, which I shared using social networks. The questionnaire could be filled in by a woman of all ages living in the Czech Republic. 106 respondents took part in the research, who filled in a questionnaire in the period from 10 February 2020 to 9 March 2020. Before starting the practical part, I set out hypotheses that I was able to confirm or refute thanks to the obtained questionnaires. My main goal was to find out how many women know what is endometriosis. Based on this goal, I set a hypothesis, which was confirmed and that more than half of the respondents know the disease. Because these are the days one of the most common gynecological diseases, I assumed...

Procházková, Zuzana ; Bláha, Jan (advisor) ; Fanta, Michael (referee)
Each expectant mother comes into the hospital with some idea of how the delivery will proceed, including the c-section. This work deals with the choice of anesthesia for planned c-section from the perspective of expectant mothers. The theoretical part of the work is devoted to current possibilities and trends in obstetric anaesthesia. It describes the types of anesthesia (local vs. total) from the perspective of medicine and from the perspective of mothers in preparation to this operational performance. The aim of the empirical part of the work is the comparison of preoperative expectations of expectant mothers with the resulting hospital reality. It was found out by the quantitative questionnaire method. The questionnaire is divided into two parts- the part before the c-section and the postoperative part. The aim of the work is the detection what information sources influence mothers ideas of the course of the operating, the influences for their decisions of the choice of anesthesia, and how the information is valid and objective. The data are treated in detail in the empirical part. The work also discussion in which the survey results are compared with the stated aims and claims...

The survey participants are women aged 18-50 years and Obstetrician-gynecologist doctors. The questionnaire survey was supposed to determine the stance of Czech women to outpatient childbirth and home birth, to find out whether they are properly informed and if they would choose to use these methods, should they have the possibility to do so. Another goal of this thesis is to discover the reasons behind the...

[Acute Severe Abdominal Pain in Gynaecology from the Point of View of a Nurse in the Intensive Care Unit]. Praha, 2011. 68 s., 10 příl. Diplomová práce (Mgr.). Univerzita Karlova v Praze, 1. lékařská fakulta, Ústav teorie a praxe v ošetřovatelství.

The work has theoretical and empirical character. The theoretical part deals with general introduction to the anatomy and development of female breast, here are shown some risk factors for breast cancer, its prevention, symptoms and current possibilities of diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer. The last chapter deals with the after treatment care and psychosocial aspects. The goal of the empirical part is to uncover the awareness of women about breast cancer issues and how women follow the prevention of breast cancer. To accomplish the research I used a quantitative questionnaire method. The sample consisted of 100 respondents. According to the research it is clear that most women believe that they are sufficiently informed about the issue of breast cancer, but only 15% of the respondents correctly identified the symptoms of breast cancer, 31% of women surveyed knew the basic preventive examinations in this disease. The research also shows that more than 50% of the women perform self-examination of the breasts and more than 90% of the respondents had visited their gynecologist. Breast cancer is the most common type of cancer affecting women in the Czech Republic, and women should be informed on this issue as much as possible. The sooner the disease is caught, the more favorable is prognoz. Keywords:...
New options for cervical cancer prevention
Adámková, Jana ; Kulhavá, Miluše (advisor) ; Fanta, Michael (referee)
This paper examines new ways of preventing cervical cancer. It adopts theoretical as well as empirical approach and is accordingly divided into two sections. The theoretical section provides a brief introduction to the anatomy and physiology of the uterus (Chapter 1.1) and then focuses on the disease itself (Chapter 1.2). The first three subchapters consider the disease incidence, the risk factors and the symptoms. The diagnostics are discussed in the fourth subchapter, which also provides a detailed description of Pap smear testing. Available treatments, currently consisting mainly of a surgical intervention, are examined in the subchapter on therapy. Lastly, the paper discusses ways of preventing cervical cancer, such as preventive gynecological exams and newly introduced vaccination against human papillomavirus (HPV); Silgard and Cervavix vaccines are examined in detail. The empirical section evaluates a questionnaire-based survey performed in a private gynecological practice. The aim of the survey was to map the awareness of cervical cancer preventive measures, especially the vaccine option, amongst different age groups of women and establish whether they are having their preventive gynecological tests done.
