The Middle Czech Verbs Consisting of the Prefix roz(e)- in the Context of Word-Formation Development

The article presents the results of word-formative and semantic analysis of Middle Czech verbs consisting of the prefix roz(e)- contained in Lexical database of humanistic and baroque Czech (https://madla.ujc.cas.cz). The analysis partly confirms, partly corrects the results of earlier analyses, above all, carried out by D. Šlosar (1981).

The Old Czech Translation of Interpretationes hebraicorum nominum as a Unique Source in Lexical Units

This article deals with the Old Czech translation of “Interpretationes hebraicorum nominum”, a unique source for the research in the Old Czech lexicon. Our survey of a sample of 89 hapax legomena showed that most of these scarcely attested words were most probably an integral part of the contemporary lexicon.

Rediscovered Lviv Manuscript of Prayers and Legends

Old Czech “Lviv Manuscript of Prayers and Legends”, originally stored in Lvov University Library and considered as lost since Wold War II, has been recently found in the collection of the National Library in Warsaw. The digital transcription of the entire text will be published in the series of the corpus “Vokabulář webový” administered by the Department of Language Development of the Institute of the Czech Language of the AS CR.

Influence of Lupáč’s New Testament on the Czech translation of Nicholas of Dresden’s Tabulae

The analysis of the relationship between the Czech translation of “Tabulae” by Nicholas of Dresden and the text of “New Testament” by Lupáč is divided into two parts: The first part characterizes manuscripts with Lupáč’s texts, the second compared them with “Tabulae”. The survey shown that the “Tabulae” represent a distinctive translation of biblical passages.

Non-Actuality of the Verbal Action in the Latin–Czech Dictionaries from the 15th Century

The article focuses on the Latin–Czech dictionaries from the 15th century that list verbs in the 1 st person singular of present indicative. These dictionaries reflect the development of the vebal aspect in the Czech language. The verbs are characterized by an extensive aspectual homonymy and a gradual emergence of secondary ā-stem imperfective verbs.
