Principal information: The main principles of eugenics were described by Platon before 2400 years. We can determine the period from the end of the 19th to the first half of the 20th century as the biggest boom of the eugenics when its negative ideas and manifestations were accepted in the society. The word itself is stigmatized because of the abuse of eugenic`s principles for the justify holocaust in the Nazi`s Germany. Demarcation of the eugenics is very disputed. It is described as aplicated human`s genetics with displays as prenatal diagnosis or preimplantation genetic diagnosis by some authors. Apothecaries in the Czech countries in the early modern period

The thesis deals with the history of apothecaries and pharmacists until 1170. Its primary focus is on the apothecaries who were working in Prague. The first part of this thesis treats of pharmacy development in Europe and continues with the general development of pharmacists and apothecaries in the Czech lands. It does provide a complex overview of pharmacists acting in Prague, whose records are being retained in archive sources. Except for proffesional degree of pharmacists the thesis also describes Medicinal rules, which they had to follow. The thesis also describes equipment and instruments that the pharmacists were using on daily basis. Further, the thesis focuses on the pharmacy atmosphere that used to have its mysterious specificity. In the conclusion, a short excursion to a Prague pharmacy is described.

Title: History of apothecaries in Carlsbad Author: Jitka Vaňková Department: Social and Clinical Pharmacy Supervisor: Mgr. Ladislava Valášková, PhD. Abstract in English In my dissertation (diploma work) I occupied myself with the history of pharmacy in Carlsbad. The main aim of this work was to find out when each chemist's arose in the town, who and when its owner, commissioner, tenant or professional deputy was, also how many chemists' there were in the monitored time. Concurrently, I tried to discover any accessible facts with the topic of pharmacy in Carlsbad. In the first part of my dissertation I occupied myself with the history, architecture and spa theme in the town, but also with the coexistence of Czechs and Germans in the frontier. In the next part, I described briefly the development of pharmacy from its very beginning until the present, its particular developmental periods and, in the end of the chapter, I focused mainly on pharmacy development in our country. In the fourth chapter I dealt with the chemists' development in Carlsbad.


Nutrition in Gouty Arthritis: from Past to Present, the Real Possibilities of Influence by Nutrition and the Consequences of strict diet restriction

It is a short work devoted to a disease called gout. The work can be divided into 3 parts. The first part deals with the development of the disease and its treatment. It is also described recent pharmacological treatment of gout and the latest drugs for this disease. Because the work is treated as final in the field of nutrition therapy constitutes a large part of dietary management and diet, which is appropriate to comply with this disease. The work also includes research on disease among patients with gout. These patients were asked about their knowledge of the disease, age, gender and adherence to the diet. The research evaluates whether patients consumed alcoholic beverages. The project also sought individual doctor by profession, in which patients with gout treated. Research data were obtained anonymously from patients at the pharmacy. The research was evaluated using graphs. Results obtained in this research are not very optimistic. Patients have incomplete information. They are usually do not comply with diet. Most patients also admitted to drinking alcoholic beverages. Finally, work is a statement that it would be possible to improve the health status of patients suffering from gout, by following dietary regimen and compliance with the principles of a healthy lifestyle. The history, taxonomy, structure, possible ways of transmission and the most frequently selected diagnostics of detected causative agents are also described in this thesis. In the second part of the thesis, there is described one of the areas of transfusion medicine legislation - blood and blood products testing for infectious diseases. The legislation of some countries of the European Union (the Czech Republic, the Slovak Republic, Poland, Germany, Austria, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and France) and the United States of America and their mutual comparison is presented here as well.

The first part is focused on the definition of key terms and presents the theoretical basis for this thesis (specifics of pharma industry, history of pharmaceutics and pharma industry, actual situation and predictions of pharma industry). The second part is concerned the individual subjects of the distribution - pharmaceutical company, wholesaler and pharmacy.
