Art Therapy application in community work
ANDRÁŠIKOVÁ, Karina
This bachelor thesis is a description of the techniques and benefits regarding the combination of art therapy and community work. It is divided into two parts - theoretical and practical. There are two chapters within the theoretical section. Chapter one deals with the scopes of defining community. In this chapter we learn what traits make a community, who is a part of it and why we build them. In this chapter we focus on the theories of social psychology especially on the topics of community membership and its importance for their members. Chapter two ilustrates how the process of combining art therapy and community work is useful for community development. In the practical part of the bachelor thesis was realized an action research in the community. The aim was to find out whether it is possible to apply the art therapy process within the community work and to artically select selected topics of mutual relations of the community members, the topic of the living space and the topic of the future. We have found that the art therapy process is suitable for working in the community and it is possible to open up the challenging topics with which the community has a problem and their art work can open up space for their reflection or processing.
