The presentation of childhood in Marie von Ebner-Eschenbach's novel 'Child of the Neighborhood' and in her story 'The excellent Pupil'

This bachelor thesis analyses two writings by the Austrian writer Marie von Ebner-Eschenbach, namely Child of the Neighbourhood and The Excellent Pupil, with an emphasis on the childhood and maturation of the main characters. With this focus in mind, the thesis examines their behaviour and ability to manage complex social situations.
