LITTLE KNOWN PRINCIPLES OF FLUIDIC PUMPING
Tesař, Václav
The paper present a survey of possibilities offered by fluidics in pumping liquids - especially hazardous ones. With its absence of moving, deformed, or sealed components, fluidics offers extraordinary safety, robustness, resistance to extreme conditions, no maintenance and the extraordinary property of transferring the pumping power across a completely closed containment barrier.Initially developed for the extreme conditions of nuclear fuel re-processing, fluidic pumps can be useful – but remain so far little known outside of this area.

Phylogenetic analysis of sexual and ontogenetic dichromatism of Gibons (Hylobatidae)
ŠOUN, Pavel
Gibbons (Hominoidea: Hylobatidae) are small arboreal apes inhabiting tropical and subtropical rain forests in Southeast Asia and Indonesia. With up to 20 species, they form the most diverse group of living hominoids. Gibbons show remarkable diversity of coat colors and unique patterns of sexual and ontogenetic dichromatism. This diversity has never been comprehensively documented and little is known about how this color variation is generated and maintained by the processes of evolution. The aim of this study is to summarize available knowledge about coloration and sexual and ontogenetic dichromatism of gibons and to utilize time-calibrated phylogeny and phylogenetic reconstruction of ancestral character states in order to reconstruct evolutionary history of coloration changes in gibbons. The results are discussed in light of various theories on function and adaptive significance of primate coloration.

Geocaching - volnočasová aktivita
Polášek, Radek
The bachelor thesis Geocaching - leisure activities are divided into theoretical, methodological, and practical. The theoretical passage submitted material highlights the general characteristics of free time, highlights the requirements for teacher free time, brings some important information about the pedagogy of experience as a important for communication about geocaching. Historical perspective complements the concise approach the rules of the relatively little-known games and movement in the natural environment and points to the possibility of eventual use in secondary or even primary schools as appropriate to the particular forms of educational instruction during extracurricular activities. Suitable methods for the theoretical part of the study offers professional literature in Czech and English. To enhance the knowledge and skills to exploit also available electronic resources and bibliographic suggestions of essays previously published elsewhere and on a similar subject. In the methodological part of the written material, efforts turned toward submission of application form adequate itself educational recommended procedure for people pubertal and adolescent. For students at primary schools and secondary schools, current educational institution. The practical part in the conception of an exploratory investigation addresses experts in educational practice, professionals of all ages who are looking for reasonable, alternative forms of educational access for those who do not want to accept the prevailing IT orientation, rigidity in the use of modern teaching aids and the growth of social pathologies in the school environment. All parts of the thesis illuminate each of the topic and outlines the actions deliberately, in practice relatively simple to use, where appropriate, in its sole discretion modifiable as friendly educational resource for students, or also those middle-aged and elderly readily available to members of all ages.

Risk preferences under acute stress
Cingl, L. ; Cahlíková, Jana
Many important decisions are made under stress and they often involve risky alternatives. There has been ample evidence that stress impairs decision making in cognitive as well as in affective domains, but still very little is known about whether individual attitudes to risk change with exposure to acute stress. To directly evaluate the causal effect of stress on risk attitudes, we adopt an experimental approach in which we randomly expose participants to a psychosocial stressor in the form of a standard laboratory stress-induction procedure: the Trier Social Stress Test for Groups. Risk preferences are elicited using an incentive compatible task, which has been previously shown to predict risk-oriented behavior out of the laboratory.

KAREL HUGO HILAR (1885-1935). Among the theatre, politics and intrigue
ZELENKOVÁ, Magdalena
The thesis introduces a little-known personality at the turn of the 19th and 20th century ? theatre director, critic and theorist Karel Hugo Hilar. On the grounds of the archival resources, which have not been entirely used to date, the work reconstructs Hilar´s professional and personal life to bring a completely new and more comprehensive view of Hilar´s figure. This thesis is divided into three parts. The first section deals with Hilar´s maturing in the context of the time and maps the most significant moments that influenced his life. The second part is composed of his professional career, mainly his impact on two most important Prague theatre scenes. This passage highlights his successes and failures to effort a modern conception of the theatre. The last chapter presents the commemorative events organized after Hilar´s death and it portrays Hilar´s image created on the basis of narratives coming out after his decease in many memoirs of his fellow people.

Jet Bouncing from Weaving Reed
Tesař, Václav
Subject of this contribution is a little known and seemingly impossible mechanism of the jet “reflecting” or“bouncing back” from an impact on a solid wall. This, of course, cannot occur if the wall were impermeable — the trick is to provide the wall with perforations that allow a part of the jetto pass through. On doing so this part has to change its direction and this has to be compensated by the remaining partchanging its direction too, to the opposite side from the jet axis. This part forms the “reflected” jet. Thephenomenon, which has applications in shuttle-less looms, was investigated by flow visualisation and a detailed flowfield computations.

The treasure of Týn nad Vltavou from the time at the turn of Middle Age and Modern Age
KOSTKOVÁ, Klára
In my Bachelor work The treasure of Týn nad Vltavou from the time at the turn of Middle Age and Modern Age I study a little-known treasure from Týn nad Vltavou, which was found in 1970 during the reconstruction house "U Modré hvězdy" in square south Bohemia city Týn nad Vltavou. I describe history of Týn nad Vltavou and house, which was treasure found. Attention is also devoted to the period of Czech history, which could have an influence on the formation of the treasure. In short, I mention about personal jewellery, which originated at the same time as a treasure. Finally, I present the similar findings of the same kind.

Metabolic rhythms of unicellular, nitrogen fixing cyanobacteria and possible interplay with modeled KaiABC circadian oscillator
Červený, Jan ; Nedbal, Ladislav
Circadian clocks of living organisms provide evolutionary advantage and make living in dynamic environment more efficient. The clocks affect human lives and health as well as control the simplest organisms such as prokaryotic cyanobacteria. The cyanobacteria represent an excellent model that is amendable to a multitude of genetic, biochemical, and biophysical methods. The cyanobacterium, Cyanothece sp. ATCC 51142 relies on the circadian clock to permit, in the same cell, anoxygenic nitrogen fixation at night and oxygenic photosynthesis during solar day. We measured real-time, in-situ photosynthetic and respiratory activities as well as the culture growth under light forcing conditions and also under constant light, i.e. free-running mode. Interestingly, the experiments show a strong 24h-period dynamic pattern that is replaced by apparent 12h-period in free running mode. The 24h-pattern does not change significantly when changing the light/dark ratio from 16hL/8hD to 12hL/12hD and 8hL/16hD. Furthermore, we tried to elucidate connection between these metabolic rhythms and known structure of KaiABC circadian oscillator by means of mathematical modeling. One of simulation results show a strong correlation between the presumed catabolic event indicated by significant peak in respiratory activity, and simulated dynamics of KaiB4 complex in modeled circadian pacemaker. A causal relationship between these 2 events is suggested because KaiB4 facilitates dephosphorylation of KaiC6 hexamer, which is known to signal upcoming dark period.

Female Sterilization as a Form of Permanent Contraception
LOŠKOVÁ, Lucie
Efforts to avoid an undesired conception have been known for, perhaps, as long as the history of the human kind. The development of new birth-control methods as such is not a new discovery. What is new, however, is the wide development of all methods conceivable and their use. One of such new methods is, among others, female sterilization. So far, this method has not been used widely in the Czech Republic. The rate of sterilized women here reaches a little less than 3%. Compared to other countries where sterilized women account for as many as one third of women, the Czech Republic falls behind. Still, this does not mean that Czech women are not interested in sterilization. The current situation in which sterilization is unpopular is, to a large measure, the consequence of obsolete regulations as well as poor knowledgeability of the subject among the lay public and insufficient promotion of the method. The theoretical section of my thesis provides a summary of known facts about female sterilization. It elaborates on preoperative and post-operative care of women concerned, complications, as well as any potential dissatisfaction with the method and later applications for in-vitro fertilization. The practical part of my thesis is divided into two subsections. First focuses on women?s (public?s) informedness about sterilization, the other elaborates on the knowledgeability and experience of nurses / midwives in selected hospitals providing female sterilization. To get insight into the issue and to achieve the below objectives, I performed my survey research in the form of quantitative analysis. Specifically, the research was carried out using two types of questionnaires when the first one was given to women hospitalized in gynecology departments and the other was handed out to nurses/midwives working there. My research was conducted at the České Budějovice Hospital and Tábor Hospital. My work had 4 objectives and 4 therewith related hypothesis. The first objective was to find out the level of women?s knowledge about sterilization as a form of permanent contraception. The hypothesis ensuing from the first objective is: Women are informed about sterilization as a method of permanent contraception. Another objective was to ascertain whether women would consider having a sterilization done in the future. The second hypothesis is: Women older than 35 years prefer sterilization to other contraception methods. The third objective was to establish whether women know the relevant legal prerequisites to have sterilization done. The third hypothesis assumes that women are aware of the legal prerequisites to have sterilization done. The last objective was to find out in what form, if any, nurses / midwives inform patients on the possibilities of sterilization. The fourth hypothesis assumes that nurses / midwives do not inform gynecology department patients on the possibilities of sterilization. All the above objectives were accomplished. Hypothesis 1 and hypothesis 4 were confirmed. Hypotheses 2 and 3 were not confirmed. This bachelor?s thesis may serve as a study material for other midwife class years as well as for nurses / midwives working in gynecology departments who might provide relevant information and support to women considering having the relevant surgery. Last but not least, my thesis could also be used as an educational material for the lay public in order to improve general awareness of the contraception methods available.

Mechano/fluidická zařízení využívající „aerodynamický paradox“
Tesař, Václav
A mechanism of aerodynamically excited vibration of a movable or elastic solid body was investigated and suggested for use in a number of fluidic (or mechano/fluidic) devices. The vibration is based on a phenomenon little known and so far practically not used, despite of its very old history. The effect leads to an alternatingdirection of a fluid force acting a movable object exposed to fluid flow. One of the directions is interesting: it is the very opposite to what an uninitiated observer may expect. Early investigations of this "paradox" by the present author in 1971 became recently of renewed interest because of the possible topical use in biosensors.
