Nursing care of children with selected visual impairments.
DĚDIČOVÁ, Kristýna
The sense of sight is considered to be the fundamental human sense which enables us to perceive three quarters of all impulses and information that we need for our life. Sight is the only sense through which we can accept optical effect. The connection between sight and the central nervous system is equally as complicated as the function of the sense organ itself. A considerable deterioration in quality of sight, or complete loss, always results in a considerable impact on a human life. The theoretical part of this work will concisely analyse the anatomical and physiological aspect of visual perception as well as the characterization of the selected visual handicaps: strabismus, refraction errors (hyperopia, myopia) and blindness. The objects of this work are patients in the children's age, who suffer from the above mentioned handicaps. In consideration of the child's age, nursery care becomes even more difficult with younger patients. The theoretical sections reviewing nursery care are striving to summarize the accessible knowledge of the main principles of care in these particular branches of nursery, whilst the focus of the theoretical section of the report as well as the following research lays in nursery care within children's hospitalization. From the qualitative point of view, problems involved with the care for children with light visual impairment are distinctively separated from those associated with the care for a child with serious impairment. Two objectives were set for this bachelor work: to investigate the specifics of nurse care for visually impaired children at a children's ophthalmology clinic and the approach taken by nurses when dealing with visually impaired children at a common paediatric ward. To determine the objectives of the work were structured three main research questions: What are, from the point of view of nurses, the main specifics in nursing care for a child with light visual impairment? What are, from the point of view of nurses, the main specifics in nursing care for a child with a serious visual impairment? What are the differences between nursing care for a child with visual impairments at ophthalmology clinic and common pediatric ward? In the research section has been applied a qualitative form of the research survey. The qualitative research survey was conducted by the method of semi-structured interview which enabled the respondents to accent particular problems according their own discretion. The open encoding method was used in the processing of the research survey and for the analysis of interviews with nurses. The research survey was being conducted in two hospitals: in Fakultni Nemocnice Motol (Faculty Hospital in Prague - Motol) at its ophthalmic ward for children and adults, and in Nemocnice Pisek (County Hospital in Pisek Town) at a paediatric ward. Five nurses were interviewed at each hospital. According to statements by nurses employed at the hospital in Pisek, it is evident, that the issues of visually impaired children do not constitute a statistical serious problem, when compared to the other definable groups of paediatric patients. Results of the research survey confirm that the main requirement for the care of visual impaired children is a need for permanent communication. The benefit of this bachelor work for a practice of a nurse who works at ordinary paediatric ward could be considered the opportunity to get acquainted with theoretical as well as practical possibilities which are available at the specialized ward at clinic hospital in Prague - Motol. The theoretical section of this work could be used as a reference material for supplementary studies in the branch of treatment for visually impaired child patients.

Corruption as Narrative
Fiala, Šimon ; Kotík, Michal (advisor) ; Volek, Martin (referee)
FIALA, Šimon. Political corruption as a narrative. Prague, 2012. Undergraduate thesis (BA). Charles University in Prague, Faculty of social sciences, Institute of social studies. Dept. of Sociology. p. 59. Supervised by Mgr. Michal Kotík. Abstract Political corruption became one of the most pressing problems of our time. We may say that corruption replaced repression as the main threat to the rule of law. This work attempts to articulate the role of corruption in relation to system legitimacy, assuming Czech Republic and the CEE countries as a model. This work approaches corruption as a narrative, which is being mobilized by the public as a critique of the way the system works. Conventionally, corruption is thought of as a pathology, which damages democracy, quality of governance and economic growth. It will be argued that it also makes sense to think about corruption the other way around - as an interpretive structure which allows introducing sense into the complex organization of society and particularly its negative outcomes. Corruption is a narrative, which allows the public to relate to problems stemming from the workings of the system. This work identifies several dimensions of the problem. It argues that corruption has a notable social dimension, which addresses inequality and injustice in general....

Pernišová, Nikola
The bachelor thesis summarizes the present knowledge of dogs communication. The firt part deals with auditory communication. It was found that domestic dogs are more vocal than their wild relatives. The next part talks about visual communication, which includes not only eye contact, but also the position of body parts and movements. The last part is about olfaction, the sense ,which canids use in the first place when meeting with another individual. Despite the fact that there exists lots of studies dealing with dogs communication, there are also running new researches, which may bring out new facts and enrich our understanding of dogs common relationships.

Verification of success of previous noble crayfish introduction and revision of occurrence of spiny cheek crayfish in the CHKO Třeboňsko
KOUTNIK, Dalibor
The aim of this thesis was to verify the success of previous reintroduction of noble crayfish (Astacus astacus) in main streams and selected reservoirs in the protected area Třeboňsko. Further expansion took place monitoring invasive signal crayfish (Pacifastacus leniusculus) and spiny cheek crayfish (Orconectes limosus) in these streams. Both are a carrier of crayfish plague. Thus, where they already exist, would not make sense to try to strengthen further the population of noble crayfish.

The significance of nursing in the view of nurse and patient.
PECHOVÁ, Lucie
The Bachelor´s thesis deals with the sense of the nursing profession from two points of view. The first one is the view of nurses working in health service and contributing to the treatment of patients by their care, the other one is a sense of the nursing profession for those who are staying in hospital and thus depending on the care of nurses, i.e. of patients. The goal of the thesis was to identify nurses´ reasons for selecting the nursing profession and to find out how nurses perceive the sense of their occupation. Expectations from the nursing activity in a hospital facility were ascertained with patients. Another goal was to find out how patients perceive the sense of care provided by a nurse. The theoretical part of the thesis deals with the history and presence of the nursing profession, a nurse as a representative of the profession and a patient´s position in the nursing care. The quantitative method of research survey was selected for the elaboration of the empiric part of the Bachelor´s thesis. A non-standardized interview was selected for collecting data from nurses and patients. Results of the research survey with nurses resulted in the finding that most nurses expect from the nursing profession that their occupation will be beneficial for other people and they expect their satisfaction. Nurses stated the feeling of satisfaction when they have the possibility to be in contact with patients and communicate with them and if this is supported by a positive response from patients to their behaviour and activities. Nurses see the sense of their profession in helping people and taking care of them. Results of the research survey with patients resulted in an interesting finding. There was an agreement with nurses in the view of the sense of the nursing profession and patients stated the help to ill people and care of their satisfaction. They consider the job of nurses important, demanding and highly professional. For patients, the nursing profession becomes important only after experience with a stay in hospital. Expectations patients specified rather focused on a nurse´s personality and her behaviour. Patients expect helpful and patient behaviour in the contact with a nurse. They also expect the nurse to give them sufficient amount of information. Results obtained in this research survey can be used as an information source for nurses and other workers in health service e.g. for finding a sense of the profession and thinking over the importance of nursing care. They can also be used as a motive for further examination of patient expectations and thus improving the care for the ill.

Utilization of the role of a nurse as a decision-maker in practice in connection with provision of quality nursing care
STEHLÍKOVÁ, Jaroslava
The thesis attempts to outline the extent to which the decision-making role of nurses is utilized, and the main factors that affect decision-making of nurses within the scope of provision of nursing care. The research has found out that nurses utilize their decision-making role to an insufficient extent hence the sense and purpose of decision-making must be emphasised again. This task may be assumed by managing nurses. Managing nurses may also contribute by more effective defending of competences of nurses. From the factors needed by nurses for effective decision-making, attention should be paid particularly to education. It is necessary to make possible for nurses to extend their knowledge and thus to obtain theoretical insight (e.g. in respect of decision-making) to be used by them while providing care to a patient/client.
