IVANOVÁ, Lucie
This work describes the importance of granting operating subsidies and the development of the subsidy policy for production in general since the Czech Republic joined the European Union. Analysis of the economic results of farms grouped by economic size
MELECKÁ, Markéta
This work deals with evaluation of the financial situation of agricultural holdings in the Czech Republic. The agricultural holdings are divided into five groups according to their economic size. The financial analysis is made and financial situation is found out for each of these groups. The aim is to find out which group of farms has the best financial situation for everyone, why it achieves such results and how it differs from other groups. The results of the Czech Republic are also compared with the results of the contiguous states. Finally, the best management group is evaluated. Economic and financial data come from Farm Accountancy Data Network, the only farm accountancy data network in the European Union. The results of this work have shown that agricultural holdings use their own resources rather than foreign ones. This is because they are subsidized by the state and the European Union and therefore do not need to use foreign sources. These subsidies are important for agricultural holdings. The best financial situation is the biggest groups. These groups most use foreign resources, have the highest asset turnover, the lowest liquidity, and the greatest profitability. The other way around, small agricultural holdings prefer low risk and use foreign resources only exceptionally. Their inventory turnover is far smaller than larger agricultural holdings and they have great liquidity and do not reach such profits as large enterprises. By comparison with the contiguous states, it's evident that in comparison with Germany, which has the best economy in the European Union, Czech agriculture is very well. By reason is to high profitability and low costs. However, the Czech Republic cannot compete in productivity with Germany.
