View of woman in labor on the role father during pregnancy and childbirth.
Honetschlägerová, Lucie ; Kulhavá, Miluše (advisor) ; Kolek, Petr (referee)
The theme of my thesis is to look at the role of the father in the expectant mothers during pregnancy and in childbirth. The work is divided into a theoretical part and a practical part. The theoretical section discusses briefly the history of this issue, the preparations during pregnancy on a totally different life, what is the importance of psychoprofylaktické courses, the positives and negatives of the father's presence at birth and what are the roles of the partner for the birth. The main aim of the practical part was to determine whether active or passive help partner during pregnancy affect the mental state of women, whether partners visit antenatal courses, how to evaluate the presence of partner expectant mothers at delivery, what roles meet partner at birth and that the joint participation at birth should affect their relationship. To achieve the aims of quantitative research method has been selected in the form of a questionnaire survey. The questionnaires were handed out to women who have had a partner at birth. Research has found that most of the surveyed women cannot complain about the lack of attention on the part of the partners, whether it's about pregnancy is wanted or unwanted. The research also shows that all in all the surveyed women was the presence of the father at birth the...

Nursing care for the mother who has just given birth and for the newborn in the conditions of prehospital emergency care
KADEŘÁBEK, Petr
The nursing care for the woman who has just given birth and for the newborn is performed by a member of the medical rescue service team, i.e. by a non-medical health professional. A non-medical health professional is considered a specialized nurse or a paramedic. During his career a paramedic may encounter the ongoing or the completed childbirth out of the hospital environment. He has merely a maternity package and other standard equipment of the rescue service vehicle at his disposal. However, in spite of this handicap, when comparing the hospital facilities, the paramedic must carry out the same professional performance, equally as in other acute situations. It is vital to offer the mother and the newborn the maximum of care and above all, to minimalize the threat to life. His task is therefore to be both theoretically and practically prepared for the childbirth in the field, including the following care for the mother and for the newborn in the conditions out of a healthcare institution. The bachelor thesis dealing the topic ?Nursing care for the mother who has just given birth and for the newborn in the conditions of prehospital emergency care? is divided into two parts, theoretical and practical. The theoretical part deals with the ongoing delivery with the presence of a paramedic and with the temporary absence of a doctor. Among other points the bachelor work deals with the equipment of the rescue team vehicle suitable for the delivery, with medical examination of the woman, transport of the woman and the foetus in utero (i.e. in the uterus) to the hospital, accomplishment of the childbirth out of the hospital environment and the following nursing care for the woman and the newborn. Due to the complex topic, I deal exclusively with the physiological childbirth, without including all possible complications that might accompany the delivery. The research of the bachelor thesis examines both the theoretical knowledge and the practical experience of the paramedics with an on going childbirth in prehospital conditions, including the following nursing care for the woman and the newborn. In connection with the objectives, the hypothesis has been set ? the paramedics have sufficient theoretical knowledge with on going deliveries including the following nursing care for the woman and the newborn. The quantitative research, the method of questioning and the questionnaire have been applied. As a technique of questioning a printed, standardised and anonymous questionnaire has been used. The data were being collected since February to March 2013. The paramedics from the medical rescue service of the South Bohemia were chosen as a target group, forming together the sample of 102 persons. In order to confirm the given hypothesis, a set of specific seventeen questions focused on the nursing care for the woman and the newborn have been determined. The responses were counted, elaborated by the SPSS program and inserted into synoptic tables. Each question has been then statistically interpreted by the Pearson's chi-squared test. All in all, the adequate level of the theoretical knowledge was proved only in case of ten questions, the rest of the questions did not reach the sufficient level of the statistic importance. Therefore, it results from the research that paramedics do not have sufficient theoretical knowledge; the hypothesis has been then rejected. The reason is probably due to low frequency of childbirth situations in conditions of the prehospital emergency care. This work should serve especially to students and paramedics as a source and the summary of the information needed, mainly in the domain of the childbirth in the prehospital emergency care and nursing care for the woman and the newborn. The results of the research may become an impulse for launching special seminars dealing with both theoretical part and the practical rehearsal for the maternity situations in prehospital conditions.
Communication in the Birth Suite.
MELÍŠKOVÁ, Jana
Given the importance of pregnancy and childbirth to a woman, communication is a key feature contributing to the successful development of and control over that anxious period. An appropriate and correct communication prevents confusion and misunderstanding between clients and healthcare professionals. Everyone needs to communicate, especially if they are at a healthcare facility and expect healthcare professionals to come up with words of explanation, encouragement and support. The theoretical section of the work deals with communication between a birth assistant and a birthing woman. The general section summarizes communication in the birth suite and lists factors affecting communication, such as pain and childbirth training. The main objectives of the work were to determine the effect of childbirth training on communication between the expectant mother and healthcare professionals during childbirth, to see whether birth assistants were able to appropriately react to conditions accompanying childbirth and to find out whether successful communication with women in labor depended on birth assistants{\crq} expertise. The objectives have been met thanks to the research conducted. Qualitative survey by means of interviews was employed in the research section of the bachelor thesis. Eight birth assistants were interviewed: four out of them had worked in the birth suite for more than ten years and the others for one year. In addition, eight mothers were interviewed the day after they had given birth. Four of them gave birth for the first time and four of them for the fourth time. The interviews were prepared so that I could answer the following research questions: 1. What do birth assistants think about the effect of childbirth training on communication with mothers during childbirth? Most of the birth assistants answered that question in the affirmative. Expectant mothers who have been trained before childbirth communicate better and have more information and skills. 2. What do expectant mothers think about communication in the birth suite? Expectant mothers think that communication in the birth suite is positive from the very first contact and especially emphasize healthcare professionals{\crq} readiness, patience, attentiveness, professionalism and human touch. 3. Do birth assistants have sufficient knowledge and experience of communicating in the birth suite? Birth assistants with ten and more years{\crq} work experience have enough knowledge and experience, whereas birth assistants with a year{\crq}s experience of the birth suite lack the expertise. This work has attempted to shed light on communication by birth assistants. It can serve secondary school and college students and birth assistants and doctors who can use it as a resource and make an assessment of their communication skills and abilities and it can be a source of information to help improve communication by birth assistants.
