The aim of the thesis called Education and the Educational System in the Plzeň Region and its Connection with Labour Market is to answer the question whether the number of the graduates from the Plzeň region schools corresponds to the needs of the labour market. The first chapter clarifies basic notions in the area of education and labour market. The following part describes the educational system and the labour market in the Czech Republic. This part also includes the legislative framework and basic strategic and conceptual documents of the Czech educational system. The third chapter deals with characterizing of all the levels of the educational system in the Plzeň region, it further focuses on the labour market in the region which is dealt with in the last part of the thesis. The last part includes an analysis of the available job positions registered by the regional offices and also describes the situation of the graduates of different types of school in the labour market. The results of the thesis show that the number of the graduates of the higher professional schools and universities in the region corresponds to the needs of the labour market. However, the situation is more complicated on the level of the secondary education -- there are not enough graduates in some study fields, especially educated in technical fields; conversely, redundancy is the case in other study fields -- for example graduates of gastronomy vocational schools and graduates of economical schools. There is an apparent effort of the Plzeň region to solve the current situation so that the educational system would agree with the requirements of the labour market.

Whether pupils and students from the social disadvantaged background get help from assistant pedagogues for children during their studies. Furthermore we investigated if Romani students of grammar schools take advantage of grant from the state to study. The most preferred types of grammar schools among Romani were vocational schools. Only small amount of respondents chose vocational schools with the enclosure of finished leaving examination. This hypothesise was disproved, as most of the Romani pupils did not complete their secondary school education. The thesis points out the factors which influence the Romani ethnicity attitude towards the education and the process of studying. Records of the thesis are beneficial for practice as the schools which were engaged in this research continue in cooperation with us. As a feedback we provided the records of this research to schools as they may use the information for better orientation what students expect from the education , how to approach it or the choice of study they prefer. At the same time the records of the research may be used as an informative and educational material for public and specialists.
