Povrchová úprava speciálních výrobků ze dřeva určených pro styk s potraviny
Hodovská, Karolína
The thesis deals with the issue of surface treatment of wooden products intended for contact with foodstuffs. The literature part deals with a brief overview of coatings. The problem of products that come into contact with foodstuffs in terms of the material used, surface treatment and legislative requirements is discussed in more detail. The experimental part of the thesis is devoted to the verification of physical-mechanical, chemical and visual properties of test samples. Four types of solid wood were chosen as the base material, depending on the analysis of the range of kitchen utensils of the Dřevotvar cooperative. The samples were finished with five types of food-safe coatings. The samples were tested for resistance to cold liquids, food and abrasion. In addition to the appearance properties, the degree of gloss was also determined. The stress test was a dishwasher resistance test. Last but not least, the VOC emissions from the coatings used were measured. The result of the work is the determination of the best combination of substrate and paint and a comparison with the current variant used in the production of the Dřevotvar cooperative.
Povrchová úprava vybraných druhů exotických dřev

The content of this bachelor thesis is the selection of suitable surface treatments for selected types of tropical woods widely used at the production of musical instruments. Water-based polyurethane lacquer and natural wax-based oil were chosen for the surface treatment. The following wood species were selected as the base material: Sapeli (Meliaceae Entandrophagma cylindricum), Khaya (Khaya ivorensis) and Eucalyptus (Eucalyptus spp.). The surface finish of the studied specimens was subsequently tested by determining the physical-mechanical and chemical resistance of the finished surfaces. The test specimens were evaluated for surface appearance as well as the degree of damage to finished surfaces after application of selected tests to verify surface finish. These tests should verify not only the physical-mechanical properties of the finished surfaces (adhesion of the coating film to the substrate, surface hardness, degree of gloss, etc.), but also, for example, the chemical resistance (cold liquids). These tests were evaluated according to the relevant technical standards and subsequently the measured data were subjected to statistical analyses.

The primary purpose of this study is to analyze the influence of surface modifications of furniture parts, preserving the natural properties of wood. The aim of this study is to determine the influence of substrate on the quality of surface treatment, to determine the physico-mechanical properties of selected surface treatments, the current state of completion of furniture parts based on vegetable oils and waxes. The base material was chosen as oak, beech and spruce joint, which was then completed with synthetic alkyd paint, tung oil and wax coating. The test specimens thus completed were left for 1 month (30 days) in a laboratory environment. After this time, the physical and mechanical and chemical resistance of the finished surfaces were verified on the test specimens. The assessment of the surface finish quality of the completed test specimens was tested by selected test methods, in particular the surface hardness and adhesion of the paint film, its mechanical resistance to abrasion and abrasion and, last but not least, the resistance to cold liquids. The results of these tests were then processed and statistically evaluated.
