Design and evaluation of process equipment damaged by degradation mechanisms
Cablková, Zuzana ; Naď, Martin (referee) ; Lošák, Pavel (advisor)
This bachelor thesis is aimed at the evaluation of selected degradation mechanisms which occurs in process equipment. The assessment is undoubtedly important in terms of safety and prediction of residual life. This issue is demonstrated by two mechanisms described in this thesis. A phenomenon called creep is the first of these mechanisms and appears in environments with elevated temperature. The theoretical part of the thesis covers the basic principles of the creep mechanism and its effect on the material. A marginal but not negligible problem is the occurrence of this damage in welded joints. Many standards deal with the prediction and assessment of creep. Part of this thesis is the mapping and to some extent a comparison of several selected procedures. The second degradation mechanism is related to the presence of aggressive compounds such as sulfide. This can lead to hydrogen embrittlement, blisters, and many other damages. As with creep, an overview of standards devoted to the design, evaluation, or maintenance of equipment used in this way is created for these mechanisms. The content of the practical part of this thesis is the calculation of the evaluation of such a device by using the procedures of the API 579-1 standard.
Hydrogen embrittlement of conjuction bolts
Vlk, Václav ; Pantělejev, Libor (referee) ; Foret, Rudolf (advisor)
Thema of this bachelores thesis is analyse of few broken screws. By this screws is suspicion of material degradation as a result of hydrogen embrittlement. Interpretation of breach and fracture was maked by mechanical examination, chemical, matalography and fractographical analyses.
Influence of hydrogen to properties of materials and layers
Ballayová, Kristýna ; Pantělejev, Libor (referee) ; Štěpánek, Roman (advisor)
The main topic of this bachelor thesis is the effects of hydrogen on the properties of materials and layers. The issue of hydrogen and its effect on the materials used is an increasingly relevant topic as time goes on. In order to understand the direct effects of hydrogen, it is imporant to monitor the nature of its transport in the material and the response of any protective measures. The paper describes the most commonly recognized mechnanisms of hydrogen degradation behavior with focus on metallic materials, especially alloys of iron, nickel aluminium, titanium and the others. The action of hydrogen is undesirable effect in most cases, so i tis important to pay attention to eliminating these effects.
Methods of hydrogen charging of steels for an experimental purposes
Gordiak, Michal ; Němec, Karel (referee) ; Válka, Libor (advisor)
Bachelor thesis deals with the issue of hydrogen charging. The first part of the thesis describes individual methods, by which experimental materials are charged with hydrogen today. There are also included results of hydrogen charging experiments available in literature, achieved by described methods. The second part of the thesis is focused on techniques for analyzing hydrogen in metals and measuring surface or overall concentration of hydrogen in specimens.
