The effect of smoking and alcohol consumption on tooth decay and periodontitis in adults and the relationship between alcohol intake and visceral fat in the older adults
Vlasáková, Jana ; Šteffl, Michal (advisor) ; Jandová, Tereza (referee)
Title: The effect of cigarette smoking and alcohol consumption on dental caries and periodontitis in adults and the relationship between alcohol intake and visceral fat in the elderly. Objectives: The aim of my master thesis was to assess the influence of alcoholic beverages and cigarette smoking on the risk of dental caries and periodontitis in adults. Another aim was to assess the relationship between alcohol intake and visceral fat in the elderly. Methods: The thesis is carried out as two independent cross-sectional studies. In the first study, gender differences were tested using the non-parametric Kolmogorov- Smirnov test. Pearson's correlation coefficient was used to assess the relationship between the amount of alcohol consumed in kg and cigarettes smoked in pcs and the risk of dental caries or periodontitis. In the second study, body composition analysis was performed using the electrical bioimpedance method. Two-sample Kolmogorov-Smirnov test was used to test the hypotheses. In addition, a dot plot depicting the relationship between the amount of alcohol and visceral fat was created. Results: A total of 18 respondents took part in the first study, a survey. The results showed a high statistically significant correlation between the consumption of alcoholic beverages and the risk of dental...
Changes in nutritional status during high-dose chemotherapy in selected hematooncological diseases
Křivánková, Jana ; Szotkowski, Tomáš (advisor) ; Káňová, Marcela (referee)
Hematooncological diseases are often accompanied by dietary restriction, especially in cytotoxic therapy. The main purpose of the work was to assess the effect of high-dose chemotherapy on the change of nutritional status in two groups of hematooncological patients. A total of 16 patients were enrolled. Changes of the body composition were evaluated using bioelectrical impedance analysis supplemented by monitoring of biochemical nutritional indicators. Observations showed that in both groups the majority lost weight. In the first group of eight patients with acute myeloid leukemia observed during three consecutive hospitalizations, the median of change of body weight was -3.7 kg (-4.3%). Loss of lean body mass with a median value of -4.8 kg (-7.2%) was detected at all patients. Body fat was reduced at half of the patients. In some cases, with length of observation, there was an increase in fat mass along with visceral fat. In the second group, which included eight patients (after autologous hematopoietic stem cell transplantation) at whom one hospitalization was evaluated, body weight was reduced at six patients. The medianof change of body weight was -2.1 kg (-2.3%). At five patients, the treatment representeda loss of active metabolic mass. The change of the weight of the lean body mass was shown...
Evaluation of Selected Biochemical Markers of Metabolic Syndrome and Adipose Tissue After Bariatric Surgery
Horká, Veronika ; Bužga, Marek (advisor) ; Holéczy, Pavol (referee)
The diploma thesis deals the problematics of weight reduction with the using of bariatric- metabolic surgery and focuses on the changing risk components of the metabolic syndrome during one year long observation of 45 probands who have undergone Partial Jejuno-Ileal Diversion, Laparoscopic Sleeve Gastrectomy or Laparoscopic Gastric Plication. The main aim of the diploma thesis is to evaluate the changing risk components of the metabolic syndrome during weight reduction after undergoing bariatric surgery. The thesis shows that in the studied sample of bariatric patients it is an effective method of weight reduction (in PJID the success rate was 48 % EWL, in LGCP 51 % EWL and the most successful was LSG with 76 % EWL) with metabolic effect such as for example observed positive changes in risk components of the metabolic syndrome - reduction of morning glucose levels, increase of HDL cholesterol and decrease of triacylglycerols in the blood, decrease of waist circumferences and decrease of blood pressure or elimination of metabolic syndrome. Up to 68.9 % of the monitored probands showed signs of metabolic syndrome when evaluating the initial measurement before bariatric surgery, the remaining 22.2 % of the probands showed the signs after the year's observation. As part of the risk assessment for the...
Natural bodybuilding as the adequate physical activity
BROŽEK, Pavel
The main topic of this thesis is natural bodybuilding as an adequate physical puff-vita, make a survey of the possibilities and pros natural bodybuilding. The research group was composed of twenty-one propanedinitrile, for which I have applied the appropriate physical activating sadness. Their output of the measurement will be used for options to choose natural bodybuilding as another alternative to a healthy lifestyle. Everything is subject to appropriate physical activity and proper diet and thus also other ways to maintain physical and mental health.
