Car black boxes /the problem of data acquisition and analysis for use in forensic science/

The amount of recording devices for independent installation to cars and trucks is increasing. These devices can be called cars’ black boxes. They measure the fundamental vehicle dynamics and record the actual GPS position of the car; alternatively they are able to record the video sequence. The usage of these devices for the vehicle accident analysis is undoubtedly advantageous. This article is aimed to the problematic of analysis of data acquired from these systems, definition of sources of uncertainties and errors. The aim of this article isn’t in the certain evaluation of any system. The aim is to give an impulse for the expert discussion in the field of demands and requirements to these independent systems from the forensic expertise point of view. A comparison with the EDR units is outlined.
