Nursing care for patients after varicose vein surgery.

The bachelor's thesis deals with the issue of diseases of the lower limbs and focuses on nursing care of patients after varicose vein surgery. It tries to evaluate the awareness of patients who have undergone surgical removal of varicose veins, about postoperative regimen measures and describes post-procedure care. The theoretical part consists of the anatomy and physiology of the veins of the lower limbs. It continues with the characteristics of chronic venous insufficiency, which is followed by the main topic, varicose veins of the lower limbs. Etiology, symptoms, risk factors, and diagnosis are discussed here. The work presents treatment options, preoperative and postoperative care In the research part, we focused mainly on postoperative care in patients after varicose vein surgery, where we tried to evaluate the patient's awareness of postoperative regimen. Then, after assessing the sawareness, we tried to describe the spefifics of nursing care in these patients. Aim of the study: to evaluate the awareness of patients after varicose vein surgery and to describe the specifics of nursing care. The research was conducted using a semi-structured interview. Twelve nurses from three surgical departments of different hospitals participated in the data collection. In the conclusion, the specifics of nursing care are presented and the patients' awareness of postoperative measures is evaluated. The results show that the specifics of care and education are individual and depend on the range of performance, condition and age of the patient. In selected hospitals, different procedures were found in the care of patients after these operations.
Need of Instructing Patients after Operation of Varicose Veins.

The paper is entitled the Need of Instructing Patients after Operation of Varicose Veins. It deals with the general issue of the disease, the role of a nurse in the treatment of patients after the operation of varicose veins and the instructions given as an inseparable part of the nursing care.The paper follows 4 essential objectives. Objective 1: Finding out what information patients have after the operation of varicose veins. Objective 2: Finding out what information the patients need. Objective 3: Finding out, in which way nurses in a surgery department instruct patients after the operation of varicose veins. Objective 4: Creating an instructional brochure for patients after the operation of varicose veins, based on the information obtained.There were 4 research questions asked. 1. What information do patients have after the operation of varicose veins? 2. What information do patients need after the operation of varicose veins? 3. In which way do nurses instruct patients after the operation of varicose veins? 4. Do nurses perceive instructions as an inseparable part of the nursing care?The research was carried out at Pelhřimov hospital, subsidized organization, with the consent of the head nurse. The research group consisted of 10 patients after the operation of varicose veins who were interviewed before leaving the hospital for home care, and 8 nurses from the aseptic section of the surgery department. All the respondents were asked using the technique of a non-standardized interview with questions prepared in advance. Based on the analysis of the respondents' answers, an informative brochure was drafted which was then tested by a questionnaire. It was found out that the brochure would be advantageous for the surgery department.The objectives of the paper were met. Improvement in the process of instructing patients after the operation of varicose veins could be reached by introducing an informative brochure. Not only patients, but also nurses working at a surgery department could benefit from the brochure.
Education of patients after lower extremity varices surgery on postoperative regime

Varicose veins affect 10 to 20% of world population, by a larger portion women, and prevalence of varices increases with age. Among the factors increasing the incidence in lower extremities varices are female sex, pregnancy, wearing restrictive clothes, prolonged time in standing position, pronounced obesity of an individual, oral contraceptives, but also the inborn predisposition to weak vein walls, which eventually leads to venous dilatation.Lower extremities varices are now regarded as one of civilization diseases. Modern times with a comfortable way of life and only little movement cause a threat to the health of a significant percentage of us.The objective was to identify the most common way of education of patients after the surgery of the lower extremity varices, whether clients accept and perceive education as a contribution and whether nurses in the role of nurses-educators use the feedback and consider education as part of the nursing process.
