The diploma work deals with the design of a residential building in the town of Malenovice u Zlína, where a new residential complex is to be built on the site of the former Malenovice sawmill. The land is located in close proximity to the main road to Zlín. The work proposes a modular house system made of prefabricated CLT elements with social and community overlap. A system that allows rapid construction and creation of buildings with different configurations according to the given requirements not only in the territory of Malenovice. The design system includes small-scale flats with elements of variable furniture, which allows to reduce the cost of housing, which is responding to the current unaffordable housing, but maintaining human comfort. The design also addresses the efficient use of technology on site and its sometimes excessive use.

Variabilní nábytek s kovovými prvky

The diploma thesis is called Variable furniture with metal elements, and it is divided into two parts: theoretical and practical. The theoretical part is focused on general survey of furniture. More specifically on typology of furniture, description of variable and metal furniture and lastly on characteristics of certain materials (especially wood and metal) or methods of joining them. One section of theoretical part is a study of furniture requirements including testing a chosen type of furniture. The practical part of the thesis starts with research and ends by making a prototype. For the prototype to be done it was necessary to create a design of mentioned furniture, visualization and drawing documentation. At the end of the thesis there are calculations of material costs for the product.

Návrh konstrukce a realizace variabilního lehacího nábytku pro minimální bydlení

The subject of this thesis is structural design and subsequent realisation of variable bed furniture for a specific customer. The concept of the product and its technical parameters were based on studies of functional and minimalistic housing designs, literary sources about bed and seating furniture, market research of space-saving beds and standards related to bed and seating furniture. The customer has been given three variants to choose. The final solution is creation of a sliding bed on wheels with linear leading. The bed is shifting through the gap in the wall into built-in closet area hiding in the spare space behing this wall. Third of the bed room remains in the bedroom, which, together with backrest creates a sofa for occasional seating. Thesis attachement consists of the bill of materials and construction drawings of the product. It has been created as a innovative concept of space-saving bed and the realisation fulfilled the requirements of the customer.

Balchory thesis describes the issue of variable furniture for preschoolers. The design is written like a research of existing offer on furniture market. Theoretical part of my balchory thesis is about design issues of variable furniture and about relationship between furniture and children. Practical part of my balchory thesis contains solution furniture element for preschoolers. Design of furniture element contains drawings, bill of materials and the calculation of direct material costs.
