Modelling of Flow over Spillway of the Letovice Dam
Škrach, Mikuláš ; Holomek, Petr (referee) ; Jandora, Jan (advisor)
The thesis is concerned on numerical modeling of a scheduled spillway on water structure Letovice. The goal of the thesis is to verify hydraulic calculation using numerical modeling and to verify the capacity of the spillway. The spacial model was created in SketchUp program and the numerical modeling was implemented in Flow-3D program. The reason to recalculate the spillway is its reconstruction and extension in order to make high a capacity of it in the final project of Letovice water structure whole reconstruction.
Numerical Modelling of Flow over Spillway of the Letovice Dam
Křivohlávek, Roman ; Holomek, Petr (referee) ; Jandora, Jan (advisor)
This diploma thesis deals with numerical modeling of water flow. The numerical model was created to simulate the flow of water through the spillway of the Letovice dam. The spillway is constructed as a side channel and is located on the right bank. Autocad 2015 was used to create a 3D model, and FLOW-3D version 11.0.4 was used to create a numerical model.
Parametric Generator of Heat Exchanger Tube Bundle Mesh for OpenFOAM
Petrů, Martin ; Juřena, Tomáš (referee) ; Turek, Vojtěch (advisor)
This thesis deals with the basics of computational fluid dynamics (CFD), the reasons for its use, and the related necessity to create computational meshes. The next part of the thesis focuses on assessing the quality of computational meshes and, briefly, on computational methods of CFD. The available mesh generators are also compared, and an overview of meshing capabilities is provided. The following is basic information about the OpenFOAM software and its capabilities, in particular the creation of meshes using the blockMesh application. The following part of the thesis is focused on the description of the developed application and its functions for generating a high-quality computing mesh of a tube bundle heat exchanger for the OpenFOAM software. In conclusion, a steady flow simulation verifies the correctness of the created mesh and its sufficient quality.
Flow modelling for applications in process industry
CFD simulation flow of steam in the unregulated extraction of steam turbine
Filip, Patrik ; Pospíšil, Jiří (referee) ; Fiedler, Jan (advisor)
Diploma thesis named CFD simulation of the steam flow in the unregulated extraction of the steam turbine is about an analysis of the balance piston impact on the area of the steam turbine, where the extraction is located. First part describes basic knowledge of the steam turbine in general. At the end of this chapter, there is a description of the solved steam turbine. Next chapter is about introduction to the CFD. Practical part deals with a construction of 3D models, meshing and setting of the boundary conditions in the program ANSYS CFX. The main part of this thesis summarizes the results of the CFD simulation and stipulates the temperature range on the extraction pipe. In conclusion, there is a recommendation how to determine design temperature of the extraction pipe influenced by the balance piston.
Simplified computer models of elements for an air distribution
Mishuk, Aliaksandra ; Gebauer, Günter (referee) ; Šikula, Ondřej (advisor)
The goal of this master thesis is to create a simplified model of an actual swirl diffuser using CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) simulation, so that it would be easy to calculate (would have a simple geometry, a proper mesh and would enable quick definition of the model’s boundary conditions) and would also create an airflow pattern in space as close to reality as possible. In the process a CFD model with a certain geometry was created. Subsequently, various model settings were tested. Calculation results were compared with the results of the experimental measurement done using the PIV method.
Analysis of the effect of rotation of the wheels on the aerodynamic characteristics of the vehicle
Škrášek, Roman ; Čavoj, Ondřej (referee) ; Vančura, Jan (advisor)
This diploma thesis deals with modeling and CFD calculation of aerodynamic characteristics of vehicle, influenced by loaded or unloaded tires and boundary conditions applied on this tires. These calculations are combined with three types of variable rear body shape of DrivAer vehicle. There is a complete analysis and evaluation of the effects of these factors.
Overview and evolution of CFD methods
Vodička, Vít ; Dofek, Ivan (referee) ; Doupník, Petr (advisor)
The bachelor thesis is focused on mapping and characterization of CFD methods in their historical context. It compares advantages and disadvantages of different types and mention the areas in which have been used these methods.
Modelling of Flow over Spillway of the Slušovice Dam
Menšík, Kryštof ; Holomek, Petr (referee) ; Jandora, Jan (advisor)
The master thesis is focused on the mathematical modelling of water flow through a safety object. It explains the principle of mathematical modelling and its laws. It presents the mathematical models used in numerical modelling. The process of mathematical modelling of the Slušovice side channel spillway is then described.
