Database of biomedical information resources

The work describes the range of sources of scientific medical information and suggests a proposal for its classification, which takes into consideration the fact, that the quantity and diversity of scientific information sources in the major biomedical disciplines have been very extended. According to the traditional typology of databases used within the framework of the information and library science, information resources are sorted into four basic groups: the bibliographic, full text, factual, and sources of type of register, catalog and directory. Often we meet also with resources, which are a combination of the above mentioned types (hybrid sources). With the increasing amount of information in medicine, however, we can see not only expansion of the amount of databases within the categories, but also entirely new sources of information, which cannot be classified in any of the above groups.
