Effect of migration on economy of selected countries of OECD from 1950 to 2014

This bachelors thesis focuses on the analysis of effect of migration on economy of selected countries of OECD from 1950 to 2014, specifically on the economical impact of immigration to the United States and Belgium. In the theoretical part I explain basic types of immigration, causes of migration and economic theories of impacts on the labor market, summary of history of immigration to the OECD countries and effect of migration on economic indicators. The second part is the correlation analysis itself, performed by comparison of selected economic indicators. After that detected results of U.S. and Belgium are compared. Based on the obtained data, it was found that the impact of immigrants on economy of United States is rather positive and impact on economy of Belgium rather negative. It is caused mainly due to the different characteristics of immigrants and diverse migration policies.
