Capsule-free Hot Isostatic Pressing of transparent structural and functional ceramic materials
Krupa, Filip ; Drdlík, Daniel (referee) ; Maca, Karel (advisor)
The presented work focused on evaluating the suitability of several types of cubic zirconia powders for preparing suspension with a high solid content (over 40 vol.%). The suspensions were doped with TiO2 nanopowder (0,1 – 0,5 at. %). The influence of the shaping method (casting the suspension and drying the suspension by spray drying, followed by shaping through pressinng) and subsequent pre-sintering to the closed porosity stage was investigated, focusing on comparing two sintering regimes (long – 1300 °C/120 min and short – 1560 °C/2 min). The microstructure of both the pre-sintered samples and the samples after hot isostatic pressing was then observed using an electron microscope. The presented work assessed the influence of TiO2 on relative density, average grain size, and pore size, as well as the optimal amount of TiO2 to achieve maximum photoluminescent properties.

This final thesis deals with the quality of surface finishes of table tops manufactured in the system of industrial production and follows the requirements of applicable standards for testing. The most often used materials in production of table tops were chosen for testing of the quality. As the foundation material for finishing by coating with paint were selected components particle board, MDF and HDF (on honeycomb or particle board) in different thicknesses. Surface of desks finished in crude state or with decorating material in the form of veneer or spliced veneers. Additional surface finish were done using pigmented and transparent coating materials. Coating materials on the basis of acrylic UV, alkyd-PUR, acrylic-PUR and 1C WB dispersion were used. During finalizing by transparent coatings surfaces were finished using either waterborne or solvent-based stains. Individual layers of coatings of systems of surface finishes were given by chosen technology and by the type of coating material. Technology, which was selected for applying of coating materials, was roller coating and spraying by HVLP system. After surface completion and relaxation, physical-mechanical testing were performed on the individual testing samples of surface finishes. This testing was subsequently evaluated based on requirements of relevant norms. Individual testing samples of surfaces were divided into groups based on finishing method and type of surface finishes (pigment/transparent). Outcome of the work is the evaluation of given systems of surface finishes from the perspective of suitable utilization for table tops.
