Hobby akvaponie
VONDRUŠKA, Vojtěch
The aim of this bachelor thesis was analysing hobby aquaponics systems available on the market and then designing, assembling and testing own aquaponics hobby system which can be used on balconies, terraces and gardens. Five different media beds and one combination of media bed and raft system were selected and evaluated. From the identified shortcoming of systems on the market were designed, assembled and tested in practice two media beds aquaponics systems. These systems were evaluated and compared with systems available on the market.
Fish farming in aquaponic system
DOVALIL, Bohumír
The aim of this work was to develop three different models of aquaponic systems for the culture of Nile tilapia Oreochromis niloticus and growing vegetables and verify their functionality in practice. Following systems were developed: Media system, which used gravel and expanded clay as a substrate for plants (modified version of Barrelponics by Hughey, 2005); NFT (pipe) system, which used a flow of thin film of nutrient-rich water under the pots with plants; Raft system, which used styrofoam rafts keeping the pots with plants flowing on the water (a modified version of the UVI system by Rakocy et al., 2004).
Tolerance of Nile tilapia to nitrites
BROŽ, Pavel
The aim of this thesis was to evaluate the effect of increased concentrations of nitrite to Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) at different concentrations of chloride. Tilapias adults were exposed for 14 days to nitrite at the concentration of 3 mg.l?1 NO2? (i.e. concentration commonly found in recirculation systems). After 14 days the experimental fishes were divided into 4 group, which differed in concentrations of nitrite and chloride. These groups of fish were held in different conditions for the next seven days. Using standard clinical procedures the following haematologic biochemical parameters were determined: RBC, WBC, Hb, PCV, MetHb, MCV, MCH, MCHC, NO2-, GLU, Ca, Mg, TP, NH3. The tested nitrite concentration was not high enough to cause strong differences of pursued parameters. Only some of them (Hb, MetHb, MCHC) were statistically significant.
