Life of Alice Masaryk, and its contribution to social work

This thesis deals with the life and social activities of Dr. Alice Garrigue Masaryk and her presidency of the Czechoslovak Red Cross. The first part of the thesis describes the development of social work in our country, and the emergence of the international humanitarian organization Red Cross and the beginnings of the Czechoslovak Red Cross. The second part presents the biography of Alice Masaryk and her social activities, which culminated in her presidency of the Czechoslovak Red Cross. The thesis concludes with the evaluation of Alice´s work and her contribution to the development of social work in Czechoslovakia and her contemporaries and followers´ reactions to her work.
