Activities of paramedics in solving the attack of an active shooter and cooperation with the components of the Integrated Rescue System
SLABÁ, Kristýna
The topic of this bachelor's thesis is the activity of paramedics when dealing with an active shooter attack and cooperation with the components of the Integrated Rescue System. The work is divided into a theoretical and a practical part. The theoretical part is focused on defining the term active shooter, clarifying the most common gunshot wounds and their care. The following chapters are devoted to the typical activities of individual units of the IZS, exercises associated with an active shooter, and attacks that took place abroad and in the Czech Republic are also not omitted. The empirical part of the bachelor's thesis was made using a qualitative method, which was based on semi-structured interviews. 11 informants from among paramedics of the South Bohemian Region, police officers and firefighters participated in the research. Two goals were set in the work. The first goal was to map the cooperation of paramedics with components of the Integrated Rescue System. The second goal was to map the preparation of medical rescuers to deal with an attack by an active shooter. The results of the research investigation showed that the paramedics are oriented in the setting of cooperation and communication between the components of the IZS during a joint intervention, thus the first goal was fulfilled. Furthermore, the results showed that the preparation of paramedics for an active shooter attack is insufficient and the paramedics themselves do not feel prepared. The work draws attention to the possibility of increasing the frequency of personnel training in problematic active shooter situations.
Active shooter attack from the perspective of providers of emergency medical services
MOUTELÍK, Jaromír
This bachelor thesis on the topic "Active shooter attack from the perspective of providers of emergency medical services" is made up from a theoretical and practical part. In the theoretical part, we characterized the active shooter, mapped the situation as how it is abroad and here in the Czech Republic. We described types of gunshotwounds (shootinginjury) and the specific way how they have to betreated (pre-hospital and hospital emergency care). The AMOK situation and all the rescue activities were described in a thematic practical exercises. The aim of the research part was to determine the level of knowledge in nursing care in pre-hospital and hospital emergency from the perspective of medical rescuers, how they are familiar with the problem of active shooter, and how rescue workers are willing to deal with this issue. The semi-structured interview method was used to obtain the data for the empirical part of this bachelor thesis. Respondents were randomly choosed and they were asked by 21 questions to find out how are they prepered for the active shooter situation, treatment of the gunshotwound, how are they educated for this topic and willing to strike out for the situation. Results showed, that all the rescue workers have an overview in all the trends of gunshotwounds and their treatment. On the other hand, the majority of them (6/8) have everattend any educational event or practical exercise and have not consider this education to be sufficient, but all of them would welcome a practical training with the police. Most of these rescuers (5/8) would not refuse to go to such a case and they would take it as an interesting experience.
Analysis of the effects and risks of the ricochet projectiles of charge gun
Juříček, Ludvík ; Moravanský, Norbert ; Rekeň, Viktor
The authors analyse the ricochet bullet effect on biological model of swine leg. The experiment simulates the real professional Slovak police action using the ammunition of 9 mm (type 82) in the municipal city zones. The results reveal the high ricochet bullet wound potential. The numeric model of the ballistics simulation points out the theory of the ricochet bullet terminal effect and the correlation of the terminal effects and the distance between ballistic barrier and wounded person. The evaluation of conclusions contribute to understanding the ricochet bullet wound effects and the principles of special forces ammunition selection for use in municipal city zones with lower risk of the other person gunshot injury.
