Extension of the XML Check system
Hudeček, Petr ; Holubová, Irena (advisor) ; Polák, Marek (referee)
In this thesis, we improve the 2011 homework manager called XML Check. It is a web application used in the course XML Technologies at MFF UK and FEL ČVUT. Students and teachers have identified a number of deficiencies in the system that we are fixing. They have also suggested new functionality that we are implementing. Checking submissions for plagiarism is the most important new feature. This check is now applied to each new submission. We tried several different algorithms for this (Levenshtein distance, Greedy-String-Tiling algorithm and Zhang-Shasha tree edit distance) and we compare these algorithms. We determine their performance based on experiments on student submissions from the past four years. The improved system is now in active use.
Homework and Plagiarism Management System
Palusga, Tadeáš ; Holubová, Irena (advisor) ; Hoksza, David (referee)
The goal of this thesis is creation of a group management system involving the management of students and their home assignments. The application provides graphical user interface for defining and assigning, handing in and verifying of home assignments. Homework check is implemented by standalone modules. These modules are based on unified interface and can be installed or removed on the fly. The primary design of the program is intended for the needs of the subject called "Database systems", but a great emphasis is put on modularity of the solution that should, by the means of easy scalability, enable its use within other subjects. The whole system is written in Java programming language using a MySQL database.

Systém pro správu úkolů a testů
Konopásek, Jan ; Holubová, Irena (advisor) ; Hauzar, David (referee)
The goal of this thesis is to implement a software system facilitating management of homework assignments and automated generation of tests. From the teachers' point of view, homework management means creation of problems, their assignment to students, and correction and rating of solutions. For students, it means handing in solutions to assigned problems and solution rating overview. The focus of this thesis is the description of implementation and utilization of the Assignment Manager web application. Apart from the goals described above, the application also enables the management of user groups, sharing of problems among student groups within the scope of a single course, and using external "plug-ins" for automated correction of solutions. Furthermore, it is capable of automated generation of tests from saved sets of test questions. The application was field-tested during a single semester and it was extended based on the teachers' and students' suggestions. The thesis includes a discussion of the differences between the original assumptions serving as the basis for the application's implementation and the demands of live deployment.
