Motivating and demotivating factors to increase the qualification of nurses
HOŘEJŠÍ, Jana
The bachelor thesis deals with the question of educating general nurses during the transformation period of medical schools. The current condition was set by Act No. 96/2004 Coll. and its later amendments. The thesis contains a theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part focuses on the profession of a nurse and the qualification preparation for the performance of the profession of general nurse. The objective of the bachelor thesis was to determine what motivates nurses to broaden their qualifications. The second, practical part of the bachelor thesis focuses on the finding using a quantitative survey method that determined the attitudes and opinions of general nurses on lifelong learning and how they feel motivated or demotivated to increase their qualifications. The qualitative part of the survey focused on manager nurses with the aim to map the experience of middle management with the changes in the educational system and with motivating nurses to lifelong learning. The research has shown that the respondents consider the lifelong learning as part of their profession. They are sufficiently informed about opportunities of lifelong learning and prefer passive and short-time education. University education is rather marginalized due the time and financial demands. The main motivator for increase of qualification is certainty of the job retention and the main demotivating factor is the high difficulty of study.
Attitude of midwives to further education
PETRŽÍLKOVÁ, Lenka
As the largest group of health care experts working in a wide range of medical facilities, the nurses and midwives are more and more considered by governments and public health organizers the key source of providing reformatory strategies. This indubitable manifests the need of well-prepared and sufficiently flexible nurses and midwives accepting full responsibility for their work. A midwife is a person who after being enrolled in the midwifery education programme properly acknowledged by the state in which it is provided, successfully completed the prescribed studies of midwifery and obtained the required qualification so that she could become a registered midwife or midwife with valid licence for performance of the midwifery. The fields of study should be prepared in such a manner so that the nurses and midwives could take active part in realization of changes that are related either to the planned transformation or already ongoing transformation of the health care not only in our country but also abroad since it is obvious that the demand of health care is currently growing in whole Europe. By realizing the education in fields of General Nurse and Midwife according to the new curriculum we may contribute both to quality improvement of qualification of general nurses and midwives and to their approaching the European standards, which is a prerequisite for future free movement of nurses in the united European labour market. The qualifying programme also enables the so-called Euro-registration and obtaining a licence for performance of their work in EU member countries. The goal of the work with the topic of ``Midwives{\crq} Attitude to Further Education{\crqq} was to find out the midwives{\crq} attitude to further education. I stipulated a hypothesis as follows: ``The midwives are not interested in further education.{\crqq} This hypothesis was not validated. I ran the research based on questionnaires distributed among midwives in the gynaecological-obstetric clinic in Jindrichuv Hradec, Ceske Budejovice and Tabor. I preferred the method of the questionnaire since it provides large amount of data in short period and it is fully anonymous. The results of the research clearly stated that midwives are interested in further education but according to many respondents further education is not available to midwives at their workplaces. Another fact demonstrates the positive approach of midwives to further education. More than half of them has been already attending some professional courses or enrolled at the university. The results of the research will be used for better midwives{\crq} awareness of possibilities of further education and for facilitation of their access to this type of education.

ZMEŠKALOVÁ, Stanislava
This thesis deals with the history and present state of the education of paediatric nurses and their attitudes towards their own profession. The first objective was to find out information regarding the education in the nursing profession in Bohemia, with a focus on child care, and to create an overview of the education in the profession Paediatric Nurse. The second objective was to find out about the attitudes of paediatric nurses towards their profession. Interviewed were sisters who chose the profession after finishing elementary school and underwent qualifying studies as well as nurses who chose the profession after graduating from a secondary school or university education and achieved their education through specialization studies. The last objective was to compare these two groups and to assess whether there are any differences between them. The theoretical background of the thesis defined basic concepts such as the definition of education, education in nursing, a profession, and attitude towards a profession. Documents related to education since the foundation of nursing education to the present were also used and studied. The chapters on the status of nursing staff and its employment chances focus on the development of the relationship to the profession and shaping attitudes towards it. In the research part of the thesis, the collected information related to education and derived from archival documents, literature, laws and regulations is presented. The results can be used as a basis for creating educational material focused on the history of the field and intended for the education of paediatric nurses to strengthen their identification with the profession. The thesis also presents interviews with in-service paediatric nurses where they express their views on the work in the field and their attitudes towards their profession. The results of the interviews are documented and organized so that it is possible to assess whether there are any differences between these groups. The anticipated differences can be used for further investigation focused on attitudes to the profession. Verified knowledge could then be used for training paediatric nurses aimed at creating desired attitudes towards the profession.
