This bachelor thesis aims to provide an overview of manufacturers on the market in the field of sports shock absorbers according to individual disciplines. Furthermore, it describes the effects of the basic adjustment elements of the shock absorber on the dependence of the damping force and the speed of the shock absorber. I tried to create an overview of the special elements used for shock absorber affecting its characteristics. Using a quarter model replacing an off-road vehicle of category T1, I have displayed the effects of changes in individual suspension parameters such as the weight of the sprung and unsprung mass, the damping and stiffness of the tire, the damping coefficient of the shock absorber and the spring stiffness coefficient. Finally, I evaluated the optimal characteristics of the shock absorber with respect to the dynamic force under the vehicle wheel and the acceleration of the sprung mass.
