This bachelor thesis deals with agropellets and their combustion in terms of emissions and efficiency. It consists of two parts. The first part is theoretical, where the search of available types of biomass, production of agropellets and combustion principle is presented. The second part of the thesis is focused on experimental comparison of efficiency and emission class of boiler for various agropellets.
Composition of Municipal Waste
Straka, David ; Musilová, Petra (referee) ; Elbl, Patrik (advisor)
This bachelor thesis deals with the composition of municipal and mixed municipal waste. Introduction of the research part deals with the composition and properties of waste. In the next section, the waste is considered as fuel and compared with conventional solid fuels. The conculusion of the research part is devoted to the research of the waste composition from selected incinerators adn foreign countries. The compulational part of the thesis deals with the determation of energy properties of the waste.
Composition and Energy Use of Municipal Waste
Anisimov, Valerii ; Sitek, Tomáš (referee) ; Elbl, Patrik (advisor)
This bachelor thesis deals with composition and energy use of municipal waste. Properties of municipal waste are described in the first chapter. The second chapter compares composition of waste in different municipalities. There is description of waste to energy technologies in the third chapter. The last chapter describes incineration plants in Czech Republic.
Forming of solid pollutants from biomass
Havlínová, Denisa ; Štelcl, Otakar (referee) ; Baláš, Marek (advisor)
This bachelor‘s thesis is divided into two main parts. The first part is research and deals mainly with biomass and pollutants. In this section, we will find a two-dimensional distribution of biomass, a comparison of fuel forms and a discussion of basic pollutants with a focus on solid pollutants. The second part is experimental. It starts with a fuel laboratory, where the water, ash and heat content of the biofuels examined is determined. The following is an investigation of the dependence of the PM formation on the properties of the biomass, which was measured by the measurement of these PM by the filters in the collecting device, while the examined biofuels were gradually burned on the fireplace insert.
Digestate Grate Boiler
Krejčiřík, Jiří ; Milčák, Pavel (referee) ; Lisý, Martin (advisor)
This master thesis deals with the properties of digestate in combustion, design of construction solution of digestate boiler and experimental verification of boiler parameters. The first chapter deals with the properties of digestate as a fuel. It is followed by a chapter dealing with the existing measured results on a similar boiler. This is followed by a stoichiometric calculation of the digestate boiler. The next chapter is devoted to combustion chamber models. This chapter is followed by a chapter with experimental verification of chamber models and combustion process tuning. The last chapter contains design of construction and operational measures.
Importance of heat supply from waste-to-energy plants
Kopecký, Václav ; Janošťák, František (referee) ; Putna, Ondřej (advisor)
This thesis is focused on identifying main factors influencing economical rentability of energy generated using incineration of municipal waste. Research was conducted focusing on municipal waste management, waste-to-energy possibilities and the issue of district heating systems, which are important considering the economy of waste-to-energy plants. Main limiting factors were identified using mathematic models adjusted for specific geographic locations.
The Influence of the fuel used in the burner for heat transfer in process furnaces
Jaworská, Petra ; Zejda, Vojtěch (referee) ; Skryja, Pavel (advisor)
This diploma thesis is about an influence of technical gases CO2 and N2, that are present in a fuel, over overall combustion process and a flue gas emissions. The first part of this thesis discussed issues like heat transfer, basic process combustion utilities, used technical gases in experimental part and finally description of observed pollutants. Second part of thesis describes the experiments themselves. Experiments were trying to find how selected parameters were influenced by adding 40 mN3/h or 80 mN3/h of inert gases to a flow of natural gas. Observed parameters were namely emission volumes, flame parameters and maximal heat duty. Experiments took place in horizontal water-cooled combustion chamber and were performed on two different types of burners. Evaluation of results confirmed clear connection of inert gases on temperature of flame; the biggest temperature drop was observed while inert gas CO2 was present in fuel. Lowering of temperature spikes also highly influenced presence of NOx in hot flue gas during all performed trials.
Energy use of biomass
Ošťádal, Michal ; Elbl, Patrik (referee) ; Baláš, Marek (advisor)
The main aim of this bachelor thesis is to search for technologies for biomass conversion with subsequent energy utilization. At the beginning of the work is analyzed the nature of biomass as an energy source. The next part deals with individual technologies. The following section deals with combustion and biogas chains. The penultimate chapter deals with chosen energy sources. The last chapter is statistical processing of emissions, mining, electricity and heat production from renewable sources and biomass.
Calculation of flue gas properties
Štenclová, Kristýna ; Brázdil, Marian (referee) ; Pospíšil, Jiří (advisor)
This Bachelor´s thesis deals with properties of combustion products depending on temperature. The first part is theoretical and includes summary of basic terms of combustion. The second part includes a recherché. It is focused on elementary analysis of fuel and basic properties of combustion products, i.e. heat capacity, density, enthalpy, heat conductivity, kinematic viscosity and number of Prandtl. In the last part of thesis, there is an example of a spe-cific exchanger and his solving based on four various inputs of these properties.
The Effective and Ecological Burning of Biomass
Špiláček, Michal ; Kolat, Pavel (referee) ; Masaryk, Michal (referee) ; Skála, Zdeněk (advisor)
This work deals with the creation of a numerical model of a biomass combusting chamber on a grate. The research part of this work describes the basic properties of biomass important for its combustion and the biomass combustion process itself. For this process which it is necessary to know the dynamics of the chemical reactions and the overall mechanism of a grate combustion of fuels. It also describes the production of harmful emissions that can be generated by combustion of biomass and the emphasis is mainly on the production of nitrogen oxides. In the next part is described the combustion device itself and the basic mathematical model which incorporates the mechanisms of heat transfer, flow of fluids and transport of chemical species. The basic mathematical model is then extended to a complete mathematical model by determining the initial and boundary conditions. Subsequently, the results of the computer simulation of the mathematical model are presented and commented. The main focus are the emissions of nitrogen oxides and hydrocarbons. These results are used to design an improvement of the geometry of the combustion chamber.
