The bachelor thesis deals with a use of heavy horses in the forest district of Čeladná in the years 2010 to 2015. There are mentioned local nature conditions and their influence on work with horses in the forest, data of timber harvesting and amount of harvested and skidded timber and a comparison of various skidding technologies used in this region. In the year 2010 was skidded by the horse 65 % of timber and in 2011 46 % of timber. In 2012 the percentage of horse-skidded timber was 35 % and in 2013 it was 42 %. In 2014 was skidded by the horse 38 % of timber and in 2015 40 % of timber.The thesis also describes the work of the coachman with his horse and the related costs and daily work program of the horse.

This bachelor thesis solves and evaluates the use of heavy horses in skidding timber in the certain forest property among 2010–2018 years and it compares them with other methods of skidding operations used in forestry. Description of local conditions is the part of the thesis – especially natural conditions, which influence the operations associated with logging and transporting in the interested area importantly. The theoretical part explains the basic terms relate to solved issues. Data processing of the forest management plan and interviews with local foresters were primary for the practical part. The interviews with local coachmans were important too. It was found, the heavy horses participated 19.5% portion on the total skidding timber.

This bachelor thesis consist in evaluating usage of heavy horses in the Ostravské městské lesy a zeleň, s. r. o. company (OML) among 2003-2012 years. The thesis is focused on comparison of use of horses and other ways of skidding technologies. In the thesis there are evaluated natural conditions in the OMLaZ forest district with forest management plan and field research, because natural conditions have an influence to skidding technology decision. The thesis also deals with costs of horse care. Heavy horses skidding had 32% portion on total harvested timber.
