Utilization of recycled brick waste for growing the agricultural plants

The master thesis follows up on previous bachelor thesis, which dealt with the sorption capacity of brick recyclate. Brick recyclate, as same as brick, excel with very high porosity. For this reason this work deals with possible implementation of plant growth aids (fertilizers) on the inside surface of such highly porous material This thesis studies possibilities of preparation of brick recyclate with the content of components supporting plant growth. It is a material, that is able to bind water in the soil and nourish cultivated plants at the same time. Aim of the work is to find out, what maximum amount of supporting substances, that later will be released back into surrounding enviroment (soil), is possible to incorporate into the brick recyclate. Such prepared recyclate was added in different amounts into predefined substrates, where plants were grown. Subsequently, the growth course, germination and yields of selected crops were monitored. It was verified that the material based on recycled brick enriched with nutrients improves the distribution of nutrients in the soil and positively affects the germination, growth and yields of tested crops.

Literature search was processed , which were generally described concepts relating to soil complex, but also various soil types, with a focus on cambisol South Bohemia. Additionally the general explained concepts regarding acidification and ion-exchange complex soils. In the practical part of the work was determined by measurement of exchangeable soil acidity. Based on this measurement Soils were evaluated as slightly acidic. It was also calculated the need for healing liming locations. It was also determined the maximum sorption capacity. Soil collected on site has been categorized soils with moderate capacity ion-exchange sorption complex.
Possibilities of using sludge of caustification from paper mills in Větřní

Bachelor's thesis deals with the possibilities of using sludge of caustification from paper mills in Větřní. Literature research consists of an overview of the soil, its pollution, the processes that are associated with paper production and recovery operations, which in this action arise. The practical part is focused on monitoring the influence of toxicity of the caustification sludge on germination of white mustard, determining the maximum sorption capacity Conductivity by Sandhof, the determination of exchange pH, calcium oxide and calcium carbonate in sludge of caustification.
