Heat transfer fluids for solar thermal systems

This master thesis deals with the basic problems of solar thermal systems, which are using heat transfer medium. At the beginning this thesis describes basic components of the solar system, especially their meaning and attributes. Further in the thesis are mentioned heat transfer liquids for commercial usage which are used in those systems, their basic properties and dependence on temperature. There is described the physical nature of liquid viscosity and also ways how to measure them. The same is for measurement of liquid density and thermal conductivity. At the end was made measurement of dynamic viscosity of heat transfer liquids for commercial usage at different temperatures. In practical part of the thesis were mixed samples of alternative heat transfer mediums. It was measured their thermal and physical attributes, like for example density, dynamic viscosity and coefficient of volumetric expansion. Each measurement was compared and evaluated.

Solar systems are more and more common part of residential houses. Main reason for this, is that solar elements are state-supported with subsidies, which is reducing payback time of these investments. At the same time, the prices for these systems are dropping. The state support is connected with effort to reduce dependancy on non-renewable energy sources, e.g. coal powerplants, which are polluting atmosphere. State administration i salso the reason for large scale solar powerplant constructions, which are, according to some opinions, misshaping the landscape and covering large areas of sometimes fertile land.
Design of solar system for family house

Objective of this thesis is the design of solar collector and its parameters for a designated family house with regard to the different uses of heat coming into the system in the form of sunlight. Based on literature studies, experience and advice of experts is at work introduced the concept of design of the solar system and its basic parts. Introduction of the sunlight and current technologies for processing and elements of the system priors the actual design of solar system.
Influence of small household appliances on economy of combined solar systems

This Master’s thesis deals with the problems of small domestic appliances in solar systems. The theoretical part provides a description of solar thermal systems and solar photovoltaic systems, including the possibility of their combination. It adds options connecting the small household appliances in system of solar technology and economics of the washing process. The practical part evaluates the economy of operation small household appliances connected to the solar system.
