Impact of social exclusion on the human psyche
HASALÍKOVÁ, Zuzana
Abstract This work deals with the influence of social marginalization on the human psyche. The theoretical part explores different theories on social marginalization and its influence on the human psyche. Individual themes that build up the social context, namely unemployment, poverty, education as well as health and health care, are also examined in depth. The practical part is based on a questionnaire-guided inquiry that surveys how life in socially marginalized localities influences the human psyche, what particular factors affect the behaviour and experiences of people living in these localities and how choices of free time activities influence acceptance into the community. The results are analyzed and presented with the aid of graphs. Key findings are summed up in the discussion and conclusion. The work seeks to underscore the importance of field work for social workers working with people living in socially marginalized areas, the positive influence of role models, the effects of value orientation and the provision of leisure activities for children and youth in socially marginalized areas.
