ŠMEJKALOVÁ, Jana
The author will deal with the building history and the description of architecture of the Augustinian monastery of St. Dobrotivá with the Church of the Annunciation to the Blessed Virgin Mary and St. Dobrotivá in Zaječov. Furthermore will be the author focused on history of the sacred building, especially from the epoch of foundation through plundering during the Hussite wars and subsequent effort to reconstruct this building in the end of the 15th century, repeated decline of architecture in the 16th century to resurrection in the epoch after the Battle of White Mountain. The text will also deal with the not very well known cult of St. Benigna, whose relics were transported to the monastery from Rome. The next focal point of this work will be the sculpture of St. Dobrotivá, which was used as a reliquary of relics and is currently on loan in the National Gallery in Prague. Last but not least the author will focus on analysis of the moveable art of the church. This moveable art comes from the 18th and partly from the 19th century and consists of hanging paintings and altars. In the church there are also paintings from J. P. Molitor and J. Matthauser. The purpose of this work is to point out the existence of the monastery itself. Apart from the history of the monastery the author would like to summarize the current research of a not very well known saint and to explore the existing movable art in the monastery temple.
