Structure and development of natural and combined regeneration in spruce stands affected by bark beetle disturbances in the Šumava Mts.
Dorko, Jakub ; Vacek, Stanislav (advisor) ; Karel, Karel (referee)
This bachelor thesis is dealing with structure, progress and dynamics of mountain spruce forests in areas afflicted by large bark beetle gradation in area of National Park Bohemian Forest, specifically in the municipality of Modrava. The research was carried out on 9 permanent research plots and it was based on evaluation of structure of the forest reconstruction, height measurement and increments of each individuial tree of natural reconstruction. The measurement was made in autumn 2015. 3 plots of those 9 permanent research plots were situated in forest clearing and the rest in dead forest. Combination of natural and artifical restoration of forest was applied in these plots. Differences were found out in quantity and structre of reconstruction in connection with various stand types. It was discovered that in west oriented locations (PRP 1 to 6), the reconstruction prospers and grows quicker, compared with north orientation (PRP 7 to 9). The highest dimensions were reached by the reconstruction in the plots founded in the forest clearing, on the contrary the highest density of the reconstructon was discovered in the plots with dead forest. The highest value of average increment was discovered in PRP 4, which means in forest clearing where logging had been done.
The development of the health condition of spruce stands with yellowing symptoms and their possible chemical amelioration in the Šumava Mts.
Morong, Jindřich ; Vacek, Stanislav (advisor) ; Karel, Karel (referee)
The main aim of this work was to learn about the health condition (foliage and yellowing) the structure and the growth of the spruce forest stands on two research areas at Stožec in the Šumava Mts., one of which area is fertilized by the product SILVAMIX MG and the second area is checking. Yellowing and defoliation of spruce forests in Šumava due to a lack of magnesium were repeatedly noticed in the eighties of the twentieth century. There was an experiment focused on the research reaction of spruce forest application of magnesium fertilizer (SILVAMIX MG NPK) in 1998. Fertilizer was applied manually in the spring of 2000 in the spruce-beech and spruce forest vegetative stage at a dose of 96,5 kg Mg/ha. On the fertilized areas was a significant improvement in the health condition of forest and also a reduction of yellowing. In 2005, yellowing symptoms of Norway spruce (Picea abys) almost disappeared. There is an every year yellowing and defoliation stands on the unfertilized control areas except the year 2006. There was a slight improvement in the health condition of stands in this year. We can say that the application of appropriate fertilizer leads to a significant improvement in the health condition of stands and it helps to their overall stability.
Vliv stanovištních podmínek na faunu střevlíkovitých ve smrkových a bukových porostech Beskyd
Rolinc, Petr
In beech and spruce stands in the LS Ostravice in Moravia Silesian Beskydy was realized monitoring of epigeic invertebrates by pitfall traps method. Carabid beetles (Carabidae) were classified as bioindicator group in terms of representation in spruce and beech stands with regard to main typopologic kategories like as forest altitudinal vegetation groups (LVS), edaphic categories (EK) and files of forest types (SLT). Ground beetles communities were evaluated in economic forests and nature reserves. Collecting of ground beetles was realized in period 2007 -- 2014 in the spring, summer, late summer and autumn aspect. In the entire period were captured 67 483 individuals of ground beetles belonged to 77 species. In interest area was confirmed the occurrence of legally protected species and species Natura 2000 (Carabus variolosus Sturm). Another protected and heavilly endagered species was Carabus obsoletus Sturm. Carabus linnei, Pterostichus burmeisteri and Pterostichus foveolatus were eudominant species. The dominant species were represented Abax ovalis, Carabus glabratus and Pterostichus oblongopunctatus. There was proved a relation between carabid beetles and main typologic categories (LVS, EK and SLT). Several species were discovered diference between spruce and beech stands and so between nature reserves and economic forests.
