Introduction to the waterlogged spruce forest habitat as part of Šumava ecosystems - materials for environmental education

Šumava is one of the oldest mountain in the Czech Republic, it is a nature phenomenon with a little affected landscape, fauna and flora. Probably the most noteworthy biotopes are the extensive forests and wetlands. Something between these two biotopes are waterlogged and peaty spruce forests mostly unknown habitats by wide public. This bachelor thesis is focused on the introduction of these overlooked habitats in the scale of Šumava National Park with reference to its importance in enhancing biodiversity and the retention capacity of water in the ecosystems. They were taking into account all the factors affecting landscape and therefore its habitats. For example climate, altitude, geological evolution and historical and recent human activities. The educational program is developed with regard to the principles of continual learning. Concurrently an informative brochure for general public was developed. These materials will be used for environmental education centers of Šumava National Park and other environmental organizations in the region.
The design of educational program about the problematic of Šumava spruce forests

The bachelor thesis is focused on the design of educational program about the problematic of Šumava spruce forests. To increase the applicability of the program, it is feasible not only in the Šumava spruce forest, but also in a common spruce plantation. The program is designed especially for pupils of elementary schools. The work contains a detailed description of tasks and activities, preparation of worksheets with notes and suggestions for lectors. Activities are designed mostly so that children are in a direct contact with nature. There are elements of inquiry based education, also the didactic play and group education is used. A part of the educational program was verified in practice and then some corrections were applied.
Flora and vegetation of special protected areas at west Bohemian part of southwestern "Brdy" mountains

Five specially protected areas are situated in the southwestern part of the Brdy region. There are two national natural monuments - Hořehledy and Míšovské Buky and three nature reserves - Chynínské buky, Fajmanovy skály & Klenky and Kokšín. Inventory surveys of vegetation were completed in these areas in 1981 and 1982 (J. Nesvadbová). The next inventory survey of the national natural monument Hořehledy was realize in 1990 two years before the establishing this territory as protected area and others in 2005 due to a proposed change of the area border. In addition, the inventory surveys of all mentioned protected areas addressed L. Šmahel in his work in 1998 - 2000. This bachelor thesis surveys higher plant species in each of the specially protected area and provides a comparison of results with the published works.
